I know from past emails that there are many of you who would like to use the information provided in this site to further build your family trees, and I think that is great. This website, while still under construction, will contain two documents: a Thornton family history last dated 1905 and updated for my branch to present day; and the minutes of a Thornton Family Association meeting held in 1912. Both documents contain a great deal of information. If you don't find your ancestor at first glance, try clicking on the page links to advance you into the manuscript further. The history also contains information regarding the families of Adams, Clyde, Wasson and McGaw. The manuscript contained herein is now copyrighted material, but it would be greatly appreciated if reproductions be kept to a minimum so as to preserve the integrity of the document as it exists. James Thornton, father of Hon. Matthew Thornton, had eight children: 1. James 2. Andrew 3. Matthew 4. Agnes 5. William 6. Samuel 7. Hannah and 8. Esther.
