The Sound of Inspiration
In the beginning of the end
There was a radiant uproar
That pierced the hearts of sinners
And spread the light of day
It had been preceded by
A silence that cut
Like razor blades
It made blood ooze
From the ears of those
Who had been
Deaf of mind
Blind of intellect and
Dumb of inspiration
For those who had
All their mental senses intact
Needed only noiseless environment
To perceive the true contents
Of their imaginations
And to vomit them
Upon the blank canvas
Of a world shrouded in ignorance
It was only the beginning
When they opened their cerebrums
And ejected the sound and image
Of a world filled with newness
Like so many fireworks of celebration
And oh what a thing to behold
The end of ordinary days
Had come at last
And the people rejoiced with thanksgiving
They danced the dance
Of spirits possessed with
The light of heavenly salvation
They sang the songs
Of hearts enlightened
To the point of feather like flotation
The wind screeched praises
And the sun beamed with pride
The clouds wept with joy
And the oceans roared with laughter
Those who had been called beasts
Were burdened no longer
And the sound of rejoicing
Made the Earth tremble with excitement
Then on the ninth day
Of the ninth month
In the ninth year
The sound was hushed
And the people looked around
At all they had created
From the sparkle in the sky
To the sparkle in their eyes
And they were satisfied
So they laid themselves down
And prayed for deliverance
For their world was a coloring book
All filled in
And they needed new pages to draw on
They looked to Him with silent prayers
Until they were delivered
The silence crept in
Rolling like fog to
Blanket all their works
And on the lips of the wind
Was a story of old
That became legend
Then myth and finally
Fairytale whispered in the mist
Whenever the tress caught the breeze
Passing through their leafy branches
Dreams came
Lazily reclined on pillows
Made of clouds
Until like Brigadoon
The Earth fell asleep
In peaceful harmony
Forever and a day
