Quest Inn: No Vacancy

I am a shinning example
Of Generation Y
Child of flower power
And Black Panthers
Younger sibling to
Generation X
I question everything
In and out of existence
And yet I am
Part of the solution
X is an unknown and
Y is a variable
Like ancient ruins
I am proof of a
Great civilization
That has crumbled
And lays undone
The slip that
Peeks from the skirt
And hides the beginnings
Of a run in her stockings
The dish ran away with the spoon
Screaming
You will not use us to consume
For we are beautiful
Without your things upon us
I am hip-hop
I am jazz and rock-n-roll
I am bee-bop and soul
Rhythm and blues
I am the drum
That beats to the pulse
Of the planet that
Gives us life
I am syncopated harmony
To the melody of living
Do not pass go
Do not collect $200
Why bother
Why does it matter
Why are we here
For what reason cause or purpose
On this plane of existence all the lines
Go to the same point
Why should I stand in line
It’s always my turn
I am matter
Wherever I go
I am alone
I occupy space
There are no vacancies at the inn
If you’re out
Then nobody’s home
Stop knocking on the door
And let yourself in
Why do people go out
To find themselves
Where do you think you are
Maybe while you’re out
Looking for your self
Your self is out looking for you
But neither of you is home
And meanwhile
Someone else is
Eating your porridge
They say if you get lost
You should stay in one place
Until you’re found
Otherwise you’re like a dog
Chasing its own tail
And eventually biting itself
In the ass
Maybe if you talk to your self
You’d know who you are
Communication is the key
Stop locking your self out
There’s no room at the inn
I am generating why
Who are you
