Willow
The sun filters through my eyelashes
And is washed away by my tears
Liquid drops of diamond
Twinkle as they drop off my chin
And make ripples in the river of my dispare
But all is not lost
For the cooling waters nurish me
And I become a sturdy tree
Swaying in the winds of change
My roots buried in the soil of time
I reach out a branch
Long and low
To make a bench in the shade of my leaves
And there it waits for love to stroll by
Cause when he does
They will call me weeping willow no more
For love will sit in my shade
And change my name to sugar maple
Or maybe mahogany or sweet smelling pine
No matter, no matter
As long as I am deep rooted in time
Life will go on and the sun will shine
And birds will nest in my branches
