Our Wedding & Honeymoon
Part Two: The Wedding

29 November 2003
At long last, our wedding day arrived! Before the ceremony, we bundled into several cars and sped out to Karekare Beach for special location photography.

The wedding party (from left): Sarah, Deborah, Trevor, Jonathan, Lesley, Nathan, Michael, Scott, Sharon, and Kathryn. Click here for a larger image.

The photo shoot lasted several hours, but thanks to Jenna and Margaret at Face & Body in Titirangi, the ladies' hair and makeup were just as lovely afterwards as they were when we started.

Our photographer was Bruce Gabites. We highly recommend him to anyone thinking of getting married in Auckland. His website is: www.finephotography.co.nz

After the photo shoot, we dusted off the sand and raced back to Titirangi just in time to be picked up by the limousine. This was Jonathan's first ever ride in a stretched vehicle. No helipad or jacuzzi, though ... maybe next time. Anyway, the limo took us across town to the New Christian Church in Ellerslie. The service began at 5:00pm, and we processed down the aisle to Sergei Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. Shortly after, Rev. Richard Keyworth pronounced us husband and wife.

"We're married!"

Having sailed through our marriage ceremony as if in a dream, we headed over to Langton's Heritage Restaurant, perched on the northern slopes of Mt Eden. The highest volcano on the Auckland isthmus, Mt Eden offers unparalleled views of the entire region. Bruce's wonderful services ended there with this mock cutting of the lovely, paua-themed wedding cake Lesley's cousin Amy made for us.

Next we head to Queenstown for our honeymoon! Read on for more ...
