Monday, July 1, 2002 - 38 weeks Midwife appointment was canceled today because Jo was up all night with a birth and couldn't make it. Am making an appointment with the alternate later in the week. |
Tuesday, July 2, 2002 - 39 weeks Called Wendy, alternate midwife, to schedule an appointment on Thursday with her. An appointment is set for Thursday at 9AM. ***6PM - was concerned about baby movements again since Jo has me charting them so I called Wendy. She had me lay down for another 2 hours to see if I could feel movement. I am able to see my stomach moving but not necessarily feel anything. After 2 hours I was satisfied with the movements. I called her back and then she told me that if the baby is in a really good anterior position then the movements are deep and are harder to feel. She also changed my appointment from Thursday to Wednesday so she could see what the baby was up to.*** |
Wednesday, July 3, 2002 Midwife appointment with Wendy went as planned. Heartbeat was normal and nothing to be concerned about as far as not feeling the baby move. She did suggest going into Maternity Associates to be put on the CTG machine (fetal heart monitor) on Thursday. Urine and glucose test were fine. The baby is still in Phase 2 of the descent process. She did have a guess at how big the baby is and she guesses about 7 1/2 - 8 pounds. I would of figured the same cause I still feel like there is plenty of room for growth but I would rather have a 7 1/2 pound baby then anything bigger than 8. She was trying to guess the sex but said she couldn't. So far we have had everyone tell us they believe it's a girl and only one person has said it's a boy. So I guess we will see shortly! Jo returns on Sunday from her conference so will make an appointment with her for next week. |
Thursday, July 4, 2002 Went in to be put on the CTG machine today. The baby was sleeping which caused me to get slightly reprimanded for not eating something for breakfast. (A little side note on that. We were told to come in right away and I was still sleeping so I got up and got ready and didn't have time to eat anything.) So since the baby was sleeping there wasn't much fetal heart activity. It stays pretty constent while the baby sleeps which is neat to watch cause there is a big difference once the baby wakes up. Which it did after Hugh was told to get me some water. There wasn't anything wrong with the baby or anything to be concerned about. So after about 30 minutes on the machine we went home. |
Tuesday, July 9, 2002 - 40 weeks (DUE DATE) Well contrary to what some people may think, I do know when my due date is and it's today! The baby however has other ideas. I guess it's not liking today much. It's also not showing any signs of coming out anytime soon either. If I was asked last week what I thought I would of said by the end of this week or over the weekend. Well that doesn't even look like a good bet but these things can happen rather quickly. So there is still more waiting to do. Talked to Jo today and made an appointment for Friday, July 12. She has had 3 of her clients have babies that weren't even due until after me. I'm pretty much ready for this to all be over with. It's getting unbearably uncomfortable sleeping at night. I dread going to bed but know I need to get some sort of sleep. My hips ache pretty badly. I know it's pretty rare for babies to be born on their due date but any day now would be good, don't ya think??? Jo said we will discuss on Friday what will happen if I don't go into labor but she said she will give the baby a firm talking to!! ***After 42 weeks, the placenta may no longer be able to nourish the baby, so most women are induced if they haven't had the baby by then. So in reality the placenta has a "used by date". Hmmmm interesting but then again maybe I shouldn't believe everything I read however I'm sure it's been proven! But then again maybe some people don't know everything either.*** |
