Wednesday, June 5, 2002 - 35 weeks On Monday I was having some cramping in the lower part of my stomach. It only happened twice but lasted for about 10-15 minutes each time. We think the baby is moving further down into my pelvis and causing the cramping. Plus it's putting lots of pressure on everything as well. The baby has also managed to turn into the proper position, OA (occipital anterior), with it's spine out towards my stomach. It seems to hold the position quite well but does tend to favor more of the left. It's nice to feel that it is now coming into the middle as I'm hoping things won't be too difficult on me. Hugh and I are assuming the baby has turned only because of the way it feels and haven't had the midwife confirm it yet but hopefully she can next week. She did comment last time that I was carrying the baby more out front. It will be interesting to see if the baby has entered into Phase 2 of the descending process. That's about all for now. More next week!! |

Tuesday, June 11, 2002 - 36 weeks Midwife appointment was today. We got to meet the alternate for Jo from July 1-7 named Wendy. She's nice enough but I'm hoping we won't need her for that time period. I'm hoping to have the baby the end of this month. (Jo figures I already jinxed myself by saying that!!) My blood pressure has gone up some which Jo says is a good sign to it getting close. The baby is also in Phase 2 of the descent process but hasn't quite managed to maintain it's front position and still prefers my left side. It has however moved more to the middle which Jo confirmed. I also went for 36 week blood tests that day and Jo will probably tell me the results at the next visit. The next appointment is June 19 and all the rest of the appointments until the baby is born will be weekly. The baby has been having hiccups alot lately. I guess I first really noticed them last week which was funny cause Hugh and I were just watching my belly move up and down in a constant motion. It was pretty neat to know that's what was happening. Now it seems to do it quite often. Hugh thinks it's because I drink my milk to fast!! |
Wednesday, June 19, 2002 - 37 weeks Another midwife appointment today. It started out ok but then when I did the urine test it came back brown with glucose in it. That's the first time it's ever changed color on me! Jo asked me what I had to eat before she got there which I told her I had pancakes and syrup. She said that would do it then because syrup isn't anything but sugar so it went straight through me. So that's why it turned brown but I could take another test later to see if it is still brown. She checked the baby's heartbeat which was beating quite rapidly but she waited a while and checked again. Then it had slowed down. It was probably the sugar rush from the syrup! The baby hasn't descended any further into the pelvis but it was lying more on the right side. It usually lies on the left more but today it preferred more of the right. She didn't have the results of my blood tests right then either but said if something was wrong with them they would of made sure to contact her. Our next appointment is scheduled for June 26 so I will know the results then. I guess that is it until then! **Did another urine test later that night and it came back fine so it must of been the syrup!!** |
Wednesday, June 26, 2002 - 38 weeks Well only 2 weeks to go now! We had our midwife appointment today and I don't think the baby is showing any signs of wanting to come early. I think it will be holding out until July sometime. It hasn't descended any further into the pelvis which I kinda figured because I haven't had any pains like I did at the beginning of the month. The baby has turned to an anterior position though (with this spine right out front) and it more on the right than the left. I have had some swelling in my left ankle and foot but obviously nothing to worry about. Everything else was fine and nothing out of the ordinary to report on. My blood test results did come back and Jo told me that I have one of the best iron levels she's ever seen for a pregnant woman in her last tri-mester. So that was nice to know. My iron hasn't moved at all since I had it done last time at 28 weeks. I'm suppose to start doing a movement chart just to know that the baby is moving enough. It's hard for me to feel many of it's movements though and I can only really feel the really hard or prominent ones. So she said if I haven't felt 10 by the time Hugh comes home from work then I should have him feel for the movements. I guess that's about it besides my reflux and indigestion getting worse now. Oh yeah, and I no longer have any sensation to pee either!!! It seems to have disappeared so I have to make myself go to the bathroom cause I never know if I have to go or not!! Our next appointment is July 1 and our midwife flies out on Tuesday, July 2, in the evening for her conference. |
