Spring Break |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Took a trip to the Grand Canyon for my last Spring Break. I say my last because I will be graduating this year with my M.A...thank GOD! The trip was great - spent about five days at the Canyon, and three days hiking and camping inside the Canyon. Had done an in-and-out hike eight years ago, but it was hellatiously hot, as it was July, though still quite an adventure. Unfortunately this year, my buddy Chuck couldn't come with me (as he did eight years ago). I still had a great time, and got to feel one with nature. Here are a few pics from the trip. |

Another view from the Canyon rim. Those clouds seemed pretty angry, and almost seem to draw one into the picture.

This was an interesting and ironic sight...
The poet just a few steps before exiting the Canyon after a three-day, two-night hike down to the Colorado River and back.

I did have some company on the trail: a big-horned sheep - a ewe specifically. I hear that sightings are somewhat rare - there are only about 150 in the park, if I'm not mistaken. I was taking a rest break when I heard her and slooooowwly took out my camera for some pictures.
A view of a tributary of the Colorado. In the distance you can see the footbridge mentioned above (the black line across the middle).

The more luxurious lodgings at the Phantom Ranch, located near the Colorado River. I chose more spartan accomodations - a campground located nearby. | A rest stop along the South Kaibab trail for the mule train. Both (some) tourists and supplies for the Phantom Ranch ride their way down to the river.
