Grand Canyon Christmas 2004
Decided to take a trip to the Grand Canyon for Christmas of 2004 rather than go back East.  It was certainly a great way to spend some days off!!  I was allowed to spend a lot more time at each site than I normally would, as it was not during 'peak season' - so I spent a total of 5 days and 4 nights below the rim of the Grand Canyon - only limited by the amount of food I could carry (as I carry already-hydrated meals, and water weighs 8 pounds a gallon...)

Note that some of these pictures - only a few - are from a previous 2-day Canyon trek in Spring of '03...
Looking East at the Colorado River, the silver bridge, and the black bridge.
This is a view of the black footbridge which spans the Colorado River from the tunnel which leads to the bridge A view of one of the mule deer which live below the rim, with the silver bridge and the Colorado River in the background.

A view of my spartan campsite at the Bright Angel campground.  In the background is the footbridge crossing the Bright Angel Creek.
Welcome to the inner rim of the Canyon!
A view of a tributary of the Colorado.  In the distance you can see the footbridge mentioned above (the black line across the middle).
The more luxurious lodgings at the Phantom Ranch, located near the Bright Angel Creek.
