Grand Canyon Christmas 2005
Another Christmas season is upon us, and where better to spend the holidays than in the Grand Canyon??  Again, rather than head back east, I decided to head a bit north and then down.  Planned on spending 4 days / 3 nights in the Canyon, but just couldn't seem to shake a chill, so I cut my trip short by a day, which resulted in me hiking out from the Bright Angel Campsite (at the Colorado River) to the South Rim all in one day - Christmas day.  It's not an impossible hike, by any means, but I normally lay up at the halfway point.
This being my fifth time hiking down into the Canyon, I have learned that one can never tell how the photos will come out - and one cannot ever really predict what type of weather will be good for pictures.  As usual, some came out spectacularly, and others.. well, sort of "eeeeeh", if you get my drift.

Ironically, this is my usual lunch stop...
A view of my campsite by the stream...
From a bridge over the Bright Angel Creek, looking at the South Rim
...and these turkeys came down from the North Rim to winter in the Canyon.  Just because they're CALLED Toms doesn't mean that they're idiots...
We were graced with the presence of a bald eagle for a few days...
Exiting victorious from my fifth Canyon rim-to-river trek - and third in a year.
