Conflicting Obsessions: Part Nine

Heero Yuy sat before his laptop, attempting to type up the mission report. He quickly discovered that he could not type without a reason to stay focused. The best reason would be to have to ignore a certain roommate in an advanced stage of undress dancing around the room to raucous music. Unfortunately, the monitor of his computer was reflective, so instead of focusing on the words, he would focus on the reflection of the long haired pilot's gyrating hips, covered only in a *very small* towel.
Heero shook his head to dislodge those thoughts from his mind. 'Think about the mission report!' He finished it quickly, giving himself time to think while the other pilots were away. 'Duo...' He closed the laptop and curled up on Duo's bed, hugging himself. 'I... I... oh, Duo. Ai shiteru, Duo. It's everything about you. Your flowing autumn hair, your lilac eyes, your soft skin, your long, straight, up-tilted nose, your lips... That day, two months ago, when I woke up to see you lying in bed with me, my heart filled so much it hurt. I wanted to wake up to that sight every morning. And how you are so cheerful, and smart, and you say the funniest things, but I never dare to laugh. I can't take it anymore...' The Japanese boy pulled the pillow into his arms and curled around it.

                     Oo-~~~-oO

Chang Wufei sat in meditation. Actually, he was watching Scooby Doo and eating a bag of Doritos, but he would tell the other pilots he had been meditating. Duo would never let him live it down if he knew that Wufei had dug up his old recordings of the show. 'It's a historical document! Someone's great-great-great-grandfather recorded these! I'm studying a past culture!' he thought, justifying his actions. 'And besides, they fight for justice! Sort of...'
He heard footsteps approaching from the hall to the bedrooms. He quickly turned off the VCR and shoved the Doritos under the couch cushion just before Heero strode into the room. Wufei looked up at Heero; Heero looked down at Wufei. They sat that way for a few minutes.
"Well?" said Wufei, a little pissed that his show had been interrupted for this.
"Duo's been gone for too long. I am going to retrieve him from the Moscow base," Heero stated flatly. Wufei blinked. 'Ah. Spandex boy is going insane without Duo. If he does this, he will regret bringing him home in, oh, a few hours of his return.'
"Sure. Okay. Quatre is making dinner, so try not to be late for it," Wufei muttered and picked up the remote control to the TV.

                     Oo-~~~-oO

Heero Yuy drove his motorcycle many times faster than he should have. He was approaching the small airport quickly, where he would take a small plane to Moscow. Then he would grab Duo and the information quickly, return to the plane, and be back home by dinner. He hoped Quatre was making chicken curry again.
He made the turn off to the airport. 'I'm coming Duo. You had better be there for me.'

Meanwhile...
Oo-~~~-oO

Duo Maxwell whimpered. Zechs came in regularly and teased Duo's body until he thought he would scream, but he never took his own pleasure of Duo.
'What does he expect to get out of this? Information? This is *not* the norm for retrieving information... But it's better and worse than being tortured with pain... Heero... Please come save me...'
The sound of the door opening and closing attracted his attention. Zechs Merquise stood in front of Duo's former roommate, Ayaji. The maroon-haired boy looked everywhere but at him.
"I'll leave you two alone to sort out your problems... but this room is under surveillance," Zechs's deep voice followed him out of the room.
Ayaji's eyes finally met Duo's. There they locked with a determination that said it was painful to do so.
    "Mitsumo-san..."
"Why?" his voice came out softly, and Duo could clearly hear the pain in it. He thought a while before responding.
"Do you remember that night? The one when you asked me what I thought about the Gundam pilots?" A terse nod from the blue-eyed man. "It was all true. I believe in what I fight for. This is what I was trained for. The colonies don't realize it, but we're trying to save them from tyranny."
The other man's eyes filled, confusing Duo.
"But why did you lie to us? To me? Shit, Ranma!"
"It's... Duo. And I understand what it's like to have someone you think you know totally change on you, and-"
    "I love you."
"Oh." Duo lost his train of thought. No one had told him they loved him, not since Sister Helen, Solo, and Father Maxwell. And certainly no one had told him that they loved him romantically.
"What you did hurt me, and it still hurts. Probably will hurt for a while. But I forgive you, because you really do believe in what you do."
    "Thank you... Aya-kun."

Back to Heero...
Oo-~~~-oO

Heero Yuy watched the woman with two hair buns at the nape of her neck leave the control room. He sneaked in and surveyed the room. The room was empty, as expected. He checked all the monitors for evidence of Duo. His search came up with nothing.
He stood up to leave, and as his did, his foot hit the panel in front of him. It fell open, revealing a video chip. He picked it up, frowning, and inspected it. He discovered the words "Suite 117, 19:24 - 19:58." He slipped it into the videodisk slot and pressed play. His eyes widened as the scene unfolded before him.
<<Duo was thrown into the room and chained to a chaise lounge. The guards left and a tall man with long platinum blond hair strode over to the American. He gave him wine and they spoke a bit, Duo acting very wary. Then the man leaned in, speaking very closely to Duo.
"You know, I searched all over for you since that night. I've wanted you from the moment I first saw you. I was determined to have you. And look... what... we... have... here...">>
Heero scowled very deeply at this. His stare at the screen nearly set it on fire as he watched the man touch Duo's hip, and then other places. A low growl rose as he watched the rape take place.
But in spite of himself, the sounds of protest, and then pleasure, Duo was making and the expressions on his face got to him. The Japanese boy shifted position in the seat uncomfortably. His eyes widened even more as Duo reached his climax and cried out.
"Heero!" The name echoed in the Wing pilot's ears. 'He... did he just shout *my* name?' Faint beeping reached him, and he realized he had lost track of time. He shook his head, consulted his map of the base, and located Suite 117. Ignoring the bulge in his pants, he hid the videodisk and left the room.

                     Oo-~~~-oO

Heero Yuy checked the hall and then slipped into the door of Suite 117. He shut the door quietly behind him and gazed upon the sleeping pilot of Deathscythe for the first time in months. 'He's so beautiful...'
    "Duo Maxwell, you baka."
The Perfect Soldier made short work of the manacles binding his love. He brushed his fingertips along the braided pilot's jawline and the boy stirred. Violet eyes opened partially, and a moan of protest was emitted.
"No more, Zechs... please..." But the drowsy eyes opened completely when Heero spoke as lovingly as he could.
"Wake up, baka. We need to get out of here."

                     Oo-~~~-oO

Duo Maxwell came into full awareness as he heard the voice he had been longing to hear for months.
"Wake up, baka. We need to get out of here." It was cold, it was terse, and it was slightly rude, but it was *Heero*! Duo sat up and jumped off the chaise lounge.
"I'm going home? Yes!" He pumped the air with his fist. But his elation faded as he realized that Heero was going to find out about what had happened with Zechs. 'He'll be disgusted... Or, worse, he won't care...'
"Shut up and follow me." Heero opened the door, only to come face to face with the bitch Duo had come to learn was called Lady Une.
She looked surprised, and then scowled.
"Where are you taking the prisoner?" Heero drew his gun out of his spandex.
"Taking him home, where he belongs. Get out of our way." He saw affront on her face, which turned to skepticism, and then she smiled. She stepped aside and bowed.
"Thank you," she said, mystifying the two boys, but they were not about to look a gift horse in the mouth. They ran into the hall.

                     Oo-~~~-oO

Lady Une was ecstatic. 'That damn pilot is gone! Gone gone gone gone!" She casually strolled out of the suite and down the hall in the opposite direction of the retreating Gundam pilots. She felt like singing.

                     Oo-~~~-oO

Duo Maxwell followed the Wing pilot down the hall at a trot. He could not understand why Une, who had been so obnoxious to him, had let him go. 'Oh well, that's one hurdle crossed.'
Unfortunately, they were not very lucky. They turned the hall right into the face of a small contingent of soldiers. Heero pivoted and dragged Duo bodily back into the direction they had come. An alarm sounded.
"Shit!" Duo cursed as they headed to an emergency exit at a dead run. They burst outside and made a run for the plane just outside the boundaries of the base. The braided boy squirreled right up the gate, and reached a hand down for Heero, who looked at him strangely before taking it.
They reached the plane and Duo flung himself at the handle.
Heero quickly got the plane ready for departure. Duo sat, gnawing on his braid. The plane lifted off the ground, but the plane was no sooner fifty yards in the air before a roaring shook the small plane and a vision of fire engulfed the entire view screen.

                    Oo-~~~-oO

Heero Yuy's first move was to protect Duo from the blast. The motion to get out of his seat was almost definitely what had saved his life. The view screen shattered and a large shard planted itself in the space Heero had just occupied.
Heero grabbed Duo's prone body and hurled himself out the now open view screen, his body wrapped around the smaller one in his arms. He had survived self-destructing; he could survive this. His only worry was about the braided boy in his arms.

                    Oo-~~~-oO

Duo Maxwell regained consciousness briefly, at the exact moment Heero leapt out of the rapidly falling plane. '*Fuck!*' his mind screamed. 'I'm gonna die!' He felt a sharp sting in his cheek, and the familiar drip of blood. As he was falling, he noted absently that Heero smelled of vanilla, specifically Duo's favorite vanilla shampoo. Duo smiled dizzily as he felt Heero's arms tighten around him. 'This is a nice way to die...' He passed out.

                    Oo-~~~-oO

Heero Yuy's legs collapsed beneath him. After his landing from the plane, he estimated his injuries to be a mere sprained ankle, pulled shoulder muscle, and a few broken bones in his foot. They were nothing that could stop him from running six miles while holding an unconscious Duo.
He had known that once the base blew up, OZ would come to investigate. He reasoned that six miles in the forest would be a sufficient distance to keep them safe, at least until Wufei came to get them.
He took out his cell phone and dialed the number of their safehouse.
    "Moshi moshi?"
"Wufei. I have Duo. We are about six miles due south of what remains of the Moscow base. I did not set these explosives." Heero could almost hear Wufei's eyes widen.
"Yes. I'll be there in no more than three hours. Is Duo okay?"
"I believe he has a concussion, but his breathing is steady and so is his heart beat."
    "I'll be there."
Heero sat against a tree with Duo's head in his lap. He stroked Duo's hair as he thought. 'Who could have set those explosives? Who were they meant to kill?' He remembered the blonde man and his eyes narrowed. 'He must have died in the blast. He should be grateful he died in such a quick way. If I were to get my hands on him...'

                    Oo-~~~-oO

Lady Une stood in the center of the control room of a base in St. Petersburg, Russia. A helicopter high above the base filmed the entire explosion. She watched as the Moscow base blew up, a section at a time. She smiled and enjoyed the rich colors of the fire and the swirls of smoke rising.
Her eyes narrowed as she watched a plane rising, but fell, damaged by the nearest explosion.
    "Zoom in on the plane."
The cameraman obliged, and she watched as the boy in the green and black spring out of the small plane, clutching the other boy in his arms. He landed, and upon rising, sprinted off into the woods.
She clutched the edges of her sleeves and tried to keep from cursing. She had laid waste to an entire base to kill the pilots, and they escaped! She would have to go to further extremes to rid the earth of that damned pretty boy...

                    Oo-~~~-oO

Duo Maxwell once more wavered into consciousness, just in time to feel a long, lightly muscled body wrap itself around him. He felt too terrible to even move.
"Duo," Heero spoke after a moment. "I know you can't hear me, but perhaps that is better. I-I need to get some things out into the air." He took a deep breath. "I saw what happened in that base, in that room. I wanted to kill that man, no, more so, I wanted to maim him horribly." Duo's eyes widened. 'He knows? Oh Jesus...'
"But most of all, I wanted to protect you and to hold you. Because I lo-love you, Duo. So much! I understand that you might have lost friends in that explosion; I know how you manage to befriend most people even on your undercover missions... I'm sorry..."
Duo lay there silently as Heero hid his face in Duo's long, unraveled braid, his breath ragged. 'Explosion... explosion... Oh god! Ayaji! Vingt-sept! Zechs...' Tears leaked and spilled across the bridge of his nose and fell to the cold ground beneath him.

                    Oo-~~~-oO

Zechs Merquise sat in a cozy seat of his personal jet. He had watched the Moscow base become naught but shrapnel, but he could not manage to summon any regret. He was grateful, however, that Lady Une had suggested a visit to Treize. That very suggestion had saved his life. His computer was currently playing the images of Pilot 01, whose name Zechs knew to be Heero Yuy, retrieving the boy who called himself Ranma.
<<"Duo Maxwell, you baka." The shorthaired boy quickly unchained Ranma. His fingertips trailed along the sleeping boy's face and a certain light shone in his eyes.>>
"Duo Maxwell, beloved of the great Heero Yuy?" Zechs tasted both names, savoring them. "Duo Maxwell..." Both boys were extremely attractive, and Zechs figured he could easily develop a strong desire for Heero Yuy that mirrored the one he held for Duo Maxwell.
The videodisk switched to a different scene.
<<The two teenagers burst out of the building, quickly scale the fence, and hop into a waiting airplane. The plane lifts off, but its ascent is abruptly cut as the explosion destroys both motors. The windshield shatters and a moment later, two bodies wound closely together fly out. One tucks the other into his arms and hits the ground rolling. They lie on the ground for a moment, still, before the first one stands, cradling the other, looks back at the plane, and takes off into the woods north of the base.>>
If Zechs knew Heero at all, he knew that Heero would enter the woods going north, but would change direction almost immediately to avoid being followed. Searching for them through all the coniferous trees would be futile.
"Duo Maxwell and Heero Yuy, we shall certainly meet again..."
