Conflicting Obsessions: Author's comments

THE FIC WITH THE CORNIEST NAME EVER!!! BWA HA HA!

Yep, it's finally finished, after two and a quarter years! And what a monster it was. This little note is here for the purpose of answering all the questions you asked or didn't ask and about which you don't care!

Conflicting Obsessions took a total 180 about three parts into it. I was relatively new - a few months - to the GW fandom (it toook my cousin much convincing to get me into a show about huge robots, but then I saw the boys and fell in love) and had only read Heero x Duo fanfics, and as a result, had never read a Zechs x Duo. This was a few months before GW came to America, so there weren't nearly as many GW fics as there are now, so this isn't quite as incredible as one might think.

Anyway, I had originally planned to have Duo captured by OZ, about to be molested by some general, and have Zechs save him. Love blossoms, Heero gets jealous of HIS Duo, and much soap opera-ness ensues. However, about a day after I had gleefully conceived of this plot, I was reading some fanfiction, and came across this exact plot. I was royally peeved. So this plotline was born.

Looking back on the story (I had to reread it to write each part), I shudder at the OOC-ness of just about all the characters. Some of it was planned (Une's love for Zechs) but just about everyone except Duo was rabidly out of character... I don't even want begin on the unlikely situations... (When have all five G-boys EVER been housing all together? And WHAT was Relena doing there? And WHY were they talking about missions in front of her?) And this isn't even my first GW fic! When I started writing this, I had only read a teeny bit of fanfiction, so I didn't know the characters that well at all. (To be honest, I haven't even watched a collective eight episodes of the show, just bits and pieces because I don't like the dub voices and I just saw maybe an episode my cousin has in the raw, so it's not as if I understood it or anything.)

I would like to say thank you to all the people who sent me letters on it. Thank you Lissa who told me in a nice way to get off my butt and write. Thank you to Elle, Aaeth, and all others who wrote back and forth throughout the last year and a half! I hope that anyone who liked this story will read my others and hopefully like those even more!
