For many years now, Oxford Brookes University has been a major centre for international education. Its reputation matches that of Oxford itself - a city that has dedicated itself to fine education.
Throughout the years I have worked with the University, I have come to realise that we share common goals and a commitment to offer degree programmes of international standing and to safeguard the programme's quality and standing across a wide range of disciplines. The recent review of the Times Good University Guide has again placed Oxford Brooke first among other new UK universities, consecutively for the past eight years running. In 2001 it entered The Times list of Britain's top 50 institutions and was voted top new university in The Sunday Times University League Table. The University scored particularly high for teaching, graduate employability, research and industry links.
As a collaborative partner of the University, the College is proud to offer Brooke's B.A. (Hons) in Accounting and Finance programme in Malaysia. Teaching and learning of the course are jointly assessed by the internal moderation panels from the Business School, Nilai International University College as well as external moderators and examiners from the University. The assessment is carried out to ensure that the academic standard and quality are equivalent to Oxford Brookes in UK. The programme has already received full accreditation from the Local Accreditation Board of Malaysia (LAN) and is approved by the Ministry of Education in Malaysia.
The process of accreditation and the emphasis on professional liaison helps to ensure that accountancy students are well placed to become finance managers and professional accountants in the business world. Though Nilai International and the University has superb reputation, we are not prepared to rest on our laurels - despite being steeped in tradition, both institutions are forward thinking and progressive in helping students to face the needs and demands of the next century. In recent years graduates from B.A. (Hons) in Accounting and Finance of Oxford Brookes University have readily found employment in a wide range of industries - finance, audit, retail, banking and manufacturing - as well as in the education and public sector.
What attracts students to register with us, apart from the commitment to academic excellence, is the enthusiasm and friendliness of staff and students alike - and to this I attach the greatest importance.
