Antonius Rex
Anno Demoni
(1979)

The first days of the year 1979 the album Anno Demoni was released by the label MR (Musik Research) in limited edition. Ritualism, mistery, extreme theology, dark feelings. It's the logical evolution of the erlier album Neque Semper Arcum Tendit Rex (1974) with use of electronic fused to the acoustics. Electronic organ, electronic violin, acoustic guitar, acoustic piano, celebrative voices.

The work consists of excerpts composed between 1969 and 1974, plus new material. It can be defined as a collection of unpublished excerpts performed and recorded between 1974 and 1978 with the contribution of the revived Tiring ("Ego Sum Qui Sum" - "Jacula the witch" still with an organ even though electronic, in conalderation of the impossibility to move a pipe organ), with Albert Goodman at the percussion instruments and the electronic toms who died right after their Brno concert.

The Anno Demoni album was very far from the commercial taste, and a step back to their first album Neque Semper Arcum Tendit Rex (1974). In between, both editions of their second album, Zora (1977 / 78), had had commercial interest. Much of this album was recorded live in a castle's two small recording studios in Milan, much because at that time (1975), the band where unable to find record companies to finace them. The following year, after much composing and meditations, Antonio Bartoccetti and Norton returned to the castle with a small crowd of followers and recorded Ego Sum Qui Sum. "Soul Satan" and the track "Anno Demoni" where both componisions Bartoccetti did when he was in the military in 1973, and where recorded in 1975 and 1978. Anno Demoni consists of six excerpts and is considered by the critics one of the most particular works of the band Antonius Rex. The LP collection is released in the year 1979 in 500 copies (three hundred of which where sold in bulk at sky-high prices to an art merchant of Venice). The limited 1992 re-release LP in 500 copies where hand numbered and signed by the Rex himself! Black Widow's 2001 cd release has gatefold cover with insert and two bonus tracks from the old 7" Invisible Force single.
