Dick Lowery, retired Wabeno School educator, pedaled his bicycle 75 miles to celebrate his 75th birthday. He left his home on Horn Lake, west of Townsend, on the morning of October 4th and finished his ride at Center Valley, south of Black Creek, that afternoon. It was not, however, a solo effort. His pit crew, wife Margaret and pet crew, Australian Shepherd, Matty, met him in Bonduel for lunch and met him at Center Valley at the end of his ride with emergency supplies of oxygen and saddle salve. When asked about repeating the ride next year Dick replied, "I'd like to do that if my health is still good." |
