Find out the facts behind this commercialized holiday
Valentine's Day is a Christian holiday celebrated in honor of St. Valentine, who had given up his life for God.
Valentine was not only a Roman but a priest who had helped and saved many people. He was asked to renounce his faith in Jesus by the Emperor Claudius II. He refused to do so and therefore was beaten and beheaded on February 14, 270 A.D.
So, why do we associate this holiday honoring St. Valentine with hearts, candy, chocolate and little candies that say 'BE MINE' ? Simple. Those pagans.
Pagans had celebrated a feast in honor of Februatus Juno, a goddess, on Feb. 15th. During this feast, everyone participated in match-making. As usual, the Christians got tied up within the pagan holiday and now we're here today being suckered into buying flowery cards with mushy sayings inside.
Valentine's Day is such a commercialized holiday. Flowers, cards and gifts. The one day that people show their so-called "love". Feb. 14th is no different than Nov.30th. They are both days. If you supposedly love a certain person why just show it on Feb. 14th? Phonies.
