When I first decided to design and run this website, I did so due to the fact that, one of Australia's most consistant gymnasts didn't get the recognition she deserved. Brooke's always been one of those gymnasts, who's been the bridesmaid, but never the bride. Always second to names such as McIntosh, Slater, Skinner, Cleland and McLaughlin. In 2000, I had hoped to get a few visitors and supporters to this site. However to my surprise within the first 4 months of opening, Brooke's Official Website had already proved extremly popular with visitor numbers reaching 2500, and climbing. As you all know Brooke Officially retired from Gymnastics in October 2000, shortly after the Sydney Olympics. As one of Australia's older olympic team members, Brooke felt she had achieved all she had set out to achieve in gymnastics. As the saying goes, "all good things must come to an end", and as Brooke has retired, so too must her Official website. With that, I would to thank everyone who's visited, left messages, sent emails, and supported and followed Brooke's career both during competitions and via the internet over the past 18 months. I would also like to thank, everyone who contributed to this website. Harriet, James, Bek, Laura, Simone, and everyone else who was willing to lend photos. Finally I would like to thank Brooke and the Walker Family. You certainly made my job a whole lot easier. Below are some photos I was lent (by Bek Howsam), of Brooke at the Sydney 2000 Olympics. I thought it appropriate, to display these, as the Olympics were Brooke's final competition, and the main goal thoughout her gymnastics career. Thankyou again, Regards Angie Thomas. |
