I am seeking a position of responsibility in the IT field that would allow me to utilize my communication, customer service and management skills, as well as provide the proper and continued training for a successful career track.
I recently completed a 2nd major in MIS from the University of South Florida (December 2000) and anticipate receiving a webmaster certificate in 2001/2002. I have taken courses in C, C++, System Analysis and Design, Database Design, Business Data Communications, VB6.0, HTML, Managing Information Resources and I am currently learning JavaScript and Dreamweaver.
I have just recently transfered to the position of Accountant in the General Accounting and Financial Reporting Department of Florida Power's Corporate Office. In this position I will be responsible for the Statistical Accounting, Accruals, and Cash Account. Prior to this assignment, while in the Plant and Depreciation Department I successfully increased my responsibilities to include the generation of monthly closing reports, maintenance and set-up of department work orders within the Transmission, Distribution, Substations, Structure and Improvements and Fleet units. Through the use of impeccable organizational skills and the desire to succeed, I have increased my work order closings from 11 in the month of December 1996 to as high as 54 in June of 1997. This, along with my effort to be a team player resulted in me becoming a resource person within six months, the recipient of the highest rating on my last reviews (Far Exceeded Expectations - 1997 and 1999) and the respect of my co-workers. I was assigned to facilitate/develop a business case for a new software system for the department.
I held supervisory/management positions from 1979 through 1996 and have been responsible from three to thirty employees. During the time that I was a key player with USA Today, as their Assistant Controller, I was able to streamline processes/procedures, which resulted in an $85,000 savings in payroll expense over a three-year period. I was instrumental in working as a team player which allowed our market to be named the Market of the Year from 1993 through 1996. I was a recipient of the "Jewel Award" in 1996 for my participation in providing and improving USA Today's image within the Disney World market. I have held positions in which knowing how to satisfy a customer, employee, client or support department played an integral role in my daily production.
I consider myself an assertive, organized, dependable and dedicated team player with a drive for success. I am flexible and am willing to work any shift. I enjoy a challenge and thrive on learning.
While every effort has been made to provide you with a resume that is as comprehensive as possible it cannot convey my full level of expertise. For this reason, I would welcome the opportunity to schedule an interview in order to meet with you personally so that we may discuss how my past experiences as well as future goals will benefit your department in greater detail. Please feel free to contact me at the address(s) or phone number(s) appearing below.
Thank you for your time and attention in this matter and I look forward to hearing from you in the very near future.
Sincerely,Kari Lea Hutton
