| JASPER Born September 14, 2001 east of Colorado Springs, CO He was the tiniest puppy (the runt) and his mother Duchess did not feed him. So his breeder Gabrielle, had to take over to bottle feed him. She said he is going to be especially small for a Sheltie. His name was taken from the book titled "Rebecca" by Daphne Du Maurier. My name also came from the same book, which my mother loved reading and just recently read again! It also came to me as we presently live in what was the Old Rock Shop and Jasper means crystal. There is also some meaning in Revelation about Jasper in the Bible. Jasper is my sixth Shetland Sheepdog! You can tell I love this breed. He is my first tri-color as I previously owned only sable and white. The Sheltie originated in the Shetland Islands and was the main dogs of the crofter there. They were also called "peerie" dogs or fairy dogs, perhaps because of their small size. |
