| Berinthia Berenson was born in New York into a distinguished family. Her father was a Foreign Service officer, and her grandmother, the famous fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli. But it wasn't long before the young Berenson began making headlines of her own. First, she and her sister Marissa became models. Later, both turned to acting. "Berry," as she was called, appeared in several movies. In 1973, she married "Psycho" star Anthony Perkins, and they remained together until he died in 1992. In the last years of her life, Berenson became known as a photographer. She shot cover photos for Life magazine and put together a book about the fashion designer Roy Halston. Berenson leaves behind her sister Marissa, mother GoGo and two sons - Osgood, and Elvis, both of whom live in LA. The family released a statement calling the loss of Berenson "heartbreaking...She radiated love and it is unthinkable that she was taken from us by such a hateful act. She will be remembered, loved and missed unendingly." Berry Berenson was 53. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "She was one of the loveliest, greatest people on the Earth, full of life," Berenson's spokeswoman, Susan Patricola, said. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Statement made by Ben Bagley: "The changes in Anthony Perkin's life have all been for the better. When we worked together on the other albums, I used to dread going to his home. The tension used to be so thick you could cut it with a knife. The main room resembled an expensive doctor's office: white leather upholstery, chrome, modern paintings. Since his marriage to winsome Berry Berenson, and the emergence of their sons, Elvis and Oz, their home has become a happy place. Bright colors everywhere! There's a Spiderman cutout from floor to ceiling to replace the paintings! There are dandelions, greens, and children's toys on the floor! It's a place of love. In the words of my grandmother, "Behind every great man there's a woman." |
