“When Friends Touch”
~~~~~
Was early Fall, when the leaves were turning shades of colors, so splendorous
The days had long since began to shorten and it was just the two of us.
Her dark eyes sparkled, her dark skin so lovely, against the Fall sunlight
Made me want to take her in my arms and hold her through out the night.
~~~~~
She read my thoughts and backed away as I gently squeezed her hand
Saying some other time but not tonight, I hope you’ll understand.
Her sweet smile told me, she wasn’t angry or hurt or anything.
Just uncertain, for she had recently experience a heart so filled with pain.
~~~~~
The Fall days pasted as Winter neared, we met and talked so much.
Our friendship grew until she began, to trust my gently touch.
She would take my hand and say you’re my man in a teasing kind of way.
The care that shown in her ebony smile, only made me want to stay.
~~~~~
The Holidays came I gave her gifts, just some little forget me not
She gave to me her smile, her touch, a Christmas I’ve not forgot
Still the night had not yet come, when I would hold her close to me
In dreams I dreamed of that special time, when our love would flow so free.
~~~~~
Then Spring approached with the birds singing sweet, as we strolled the avenue.
Hand n hand we’d walk alone, as the Sun was kissing the due.
It was then I stole, from her a kiss, as dawn brought forth the day.
Not knowing when her lips touched mine, she would soon be going away.
~~~~~
Through out the Summer I search for her, where she’d gone I could not find
My only hope was she’d return, not leaving me here to pine.
Then Fall returned with all it’s leaves, of colors so splendorous
It wasn’t the same, for with each new day, I missed her gentle touch
