ANIME AND GAMES WINAMP SKINS - SKINNING TUTORIAL

I have been recieving a lotta' e-mails asking me how I make my winamp skin.  So I've decided to blah... blah... blah... (you know the lines already, I'm sure!).  This is how I do my skins, I dunno how the pros' do it.

Please don't sue me for using Amano's drawing!  I just love his art!  I love Amano Art!

OK!  Le'z get down to business!! (of some... sort)

STEP1 : Download an All-Around Skinning program at www.1001winampskins.com, I use the Quick Skin and the Winamp Skin Maker or "Skinner".

STEP2 : [right]Get a bitmap (or .jpeg and save it as a bitmap), preferably 275x348 pixels (so ya' getta' picture first than ya' hafta' shrink it or enlarge it or crop it).  I used VIVI here of FF9 (please don't sue me!).  Let's pretend that the picture on the right is 348x275
 STEP3 : [down] Open the program(s), quick skin and or skinner, just play with the options and you'll be finished in no time!  (DO NOT save it as a ZIP file if you want to continue editing your skin).

STEP4 : Save another version of the SAME skin, but this time, save it WITHOUT BUTTONS, you can do this by clicking "no buttons" on the main menu of quick skin or selecting "buttons extractor" on yer' skinner.

STEP5 : Download the BASE SKIN here.

STEP6 : Open an image-enhancing / editing program, I use Adobe Photoshop 5.5

STEP7 : Look for the skins (they are saved as file folders if you follewed STEP3), the Skins folder is found at C:/Programs/Winamp/Skins/
and here they are, the four versions of the vivi skin!  The Quick Skin with and without buttons, the Skinner with and without buttons (don't mind their filenames, I just labeled tham that way so it will be easier to understand).
STEP8 : [right] Open the folder and le'z start workin on "cbuttons.bmp" , cbuttons provides the image for the skin's buttons!  (common sense)

STEP9 : [down] Do the same for all 3 versions, the base skin version, the no buttons version and the with buttons version.  Copy and Paste the 3 versions to combine them into 1 file.

STEP10 : [right] Now this is IMPORTANT stuff!  You must learn how to deal with layers (well, if you already know how to deal with layers then move on to the next step), you can view the layers options by selecting "Window" on the topbar then select "Show Layers", this image on the right will appear.
