Interview QuestionsInterview questions can be worded in a lot of different ways, but most interview questions are really asking the same things: Do you have the experience, the competence, the skills, the proven ability to be a team player or a team leader, depending on the job you're applying for. Interview questions are usually predictable and can be prepared for. All too often, the job offer goes to the candidate who does the best job of answering the interview questions, rather the the one who's the most qualified; so resolve, right now TO BE that successful candidate who answers the questions confidently, deliberately, and convincingly.
Preparing for job interview questionsTo put yourself in a competitive position as a job candidate, make it your business to be familiar with as many common interview questions as you possibly can -- interview questions, such as 'Why do you want to work here?' or 'What do you know about this company?'. In most job interviews, you'll also hear hackneyed interview questions such as, 'What are your strengths and weaknesses?' and 'Can you handle multiple responsibilities at one time?'. That last interview question is obviously not looking for a 'yes' or 'no' answer, it's giving you the opportunity to give concrete and specific examples of HOW and WHEN you've successfully multi-tasked in previous or your current job. And speaking of your current job, be prepared to answer the interview question 'Why do you want to leave your job'. Obviously you need to be a positive spin on your answer and NOT give the impression that you're a job hopper OR that you're leaving your current job because you can't get along with your boss. It's generally inadvisable to use terms, such as 'personality conflict', 'difference of opinion', or anything which suggests insubordination or the possibility that you're difficult to get along with. If that idea is remotely suggested by you to an interview during a job interview, you can kiss that job goodbye!
