The Loving Garden: May 15th (Thursday)
The display garden was located east of Fredericksburg in rural King George County. The property is named 'Edgehill'.
"Jack and Rosalie have always raised a few iris because 'they liked them.' With the kids out and gone, they increased their iris holdings and their personal iris collection now numbers 700+... Their horticultural expertise (known in Region 4 as 'the Loving Touch') is evident in the lush clean growth, tall stalks and large blooms of both bearded and beardless varieties, which provide an unbelievable mass of color during May and June."
"Two years ago the vegetable garden was given over to guest iris beds for the 2003 National Convention and more than 600 convention guests will be found at Edgehill this May. Jack does not publish the fact that he is growing several very nice Siberian seedlings of his own." (extracted from the convention booklet with permission)
The garden was in wonderful shape, exactly as described in the convention booklet. The TBs were in excellent form, but there were no beardless iris in bloom that I remember.
