About Us News Location Playing Times Registration Tournaments Training Contact Us |
About Us The concept of forming the Capital Badminton Club came from Dominic Soong and Janet Hugli of the Soong Badminton Academy. The Soong Badminton Academy has been providing specialized instructional badminton training since 1996. Their customized badminton training programs support athletes of all ages, from the grass roots beginner to top level competitive play. The club's goal is to provide a social and friendly environment where junior and adult members can play recreationally, develop and improve their badminton skills, or play competitively. In November of 2003, the club opened its doors at the Turnbull School at 1132 Fisher Avenue. We have 6 courts in a new well-lit gymnasium with a high ceiling. We offer memberships to both junior and adult badminton players. We have members of all ages, with various skills. Our members regularly participate in many of the local tournaments and events held by various clubs throughout the season. In both 2004 and 2005, we hosted a social tournament for adult players. In February 2005, we hosted our first Black Knight "Knight to Remember" social night for junior players. In May 2005, we sponsored an NOCP Officials Clinic at the Turnbull School and co-sponsored an NCCP Coaching Clinic at the Routhier Community Centre. The club is a non-profit organization with the objective of being financed by the contributions of our members. The operation of the club is run exclusively through volunteer efforts. |
