* Exported from MasterCook * Mrs_Fields_Macaroni_and_Cheese Recipe By :Jeannette Field Serving Size : 8 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Regular Savory Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ --------------------------------- 1 pound pasta -- preferably macaroni 3 cups milk 3 tablespoons flour 3 tablespoons butter -- or margarine 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard 1/4 small onion -- chopped dash pepper 3/4 pound cheddar cheese -- or 1 lb. 1. Cook the pasta in salted boiling water until al dente. 2. Drain and dump into cold water. 3. Mix flour, milk, mustard powder and pepper. 4. Melt butter or margarine over medium heat and add onion. Saute until translucent and add milk mixture. 5. Stir until thickened and reduce heat to low. 6. Grate cheese and mix with the white sauce. 7. When cheese sauce is ready, drain pasta and add to the cheese sauce, one handful at a time. 8. Mix thoroughly and serve. The sauce should be creamy!
