Are You Able?

 Able to suffer without complaining,

To be misunderstood without explaining?

Able to endure without breaking,

To be forsaken without forsaking?

Able to give without receiving,

To ask without commanding,

To love despite misunderstanding?

Able to turn to the Lord for guarding?

Able to wait for His own rewarding?

How To Tell A Winner From A Loser

1. A winner says, “Let’s find out”; A loser says, “Nobody knows.”

2. When a winner makes a mistake, he says, “I was wrong”;

When a loser makes a mistake, he says, “It wasn’t my fault.”

3.A winner goes through a problem;

A loser goes around it and never gets past it.

4. A winner makes commitments; A loser makes promises that he doesn’t keep.

5. A winner says, “I’m good, but not as good as I ought to be.”

A loser says, “I’m not as bad as a lot of other people are.”

6. A winner tries to learn from those who are superior to him.

A loser tries to tear down those who are superior to him.

7. A winner says, “There ought to be a better way.”

A loser says, “That’s the way it’s always been done here.”

Paul was a winner.  He said, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me” Philippians 4:13

Builder or Wrecker?

I stood on the streets of a busy town

Watching men tearing a building down;

With a “Ho Heave Ho” and a lusty yell,

They swung a beam and a sidewall fell.

I asked the foreman of that crew

“Are these men as skilled

As those you would hire in order to build?”

“Ah, no,” he said, “No indeed!

Just common labor is all I need.

I can tear down as much in a day with my crew

As would take skilled builders a year to do!”

Just which of these roles am I trying to play?

Have I walked life’s road with care,

Measuring each deed with rule and square?

Or am I one of those who roam the town,

Content with the labor of tearing down?

A few four-letter words essential to the Christian:

LOVE God with all your heart, and your neighbor as yourself.

GIVE cheerfully, not grudgingly.

LIVE today as if it were your last on earth.

LOOK for the best in people.

KIND words never die; neither do harsh ones.

PRAY without ceasing--it works miracles.

WORK while it is day; the night is coming when no man can work.

OBEY God.  It is better than sacrifice.

HOPE for better days and peace eternal.
