Hopefully you know your way around the kitchen. These are just a few simple recipes that are staples in our home now….

Hamburger Chow Mein Brown 1 pound hamburger and drain, add assorted vegetables of your choice (carrots, cabbage, celery, bean sprouts, peppers, suey choy, bok choy, mushrooms) , 2 cups water, ½ cup soya sauce, and 1 large bag steam fried noodles. Simmer on stove top or bake in oven until vegetables are tender but not too soft.
Aladdin cookies
1/3 cup shortening 1 cup brown sugar 1 egg 1 cup cold cooked cereal 1 ¼ cup flour ½ teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon cinnamon ½ teaspoon nutmeg ½ teaspoon ginger 1 cup raisins 1 cup nuts No Bake Cheesecake Chocolate Zucchini Loaf (4 loaves) 1 ½ cup margarine 4 cups sugar 6 eggs 4 cups zucchini (or pumpkin) 1 cup cocoa 3 teaspoons baking soda 5 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon cinnamon dash salt 5 cups flour Mix, pour into loaf pans and bake 350 for 1 hour. Quick Scratch Cake1 ½ cups flour ¾ cup sugar 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder ¾ cup milk 1/3 cup shortening 1 egg 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla Mix, pour into greased 9*9 pan and bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes.
Eggnog Bread (turns out similar to nice
pound cake)
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup dairy eggnog
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/4 tsp nutmeg
2 tsp rum extract
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
Preheat oven to 350 degrees C.
Grease bottom of pan.
Beat eggs, add sugar, eggnog, butter, rum, and
vanilla.
Blend well, add flour, baking powder and nutmeg.
Stir just til moistened.
Pour into greased pan. Bake for 45-50 minutes or
until toothpick comes out clean.
Cool 10 minutes. remove from pan. Cool bread
COMPLETELY before slicing.
Gift Giving Soup
1/4 cup each:
beef soup base (or french onion)
red lentils
vegetable flakes
pearl barley
small bow or shell pasta
yellow split peas
wild rice
Layer into 2 cup glass jar with tight fitting lid.
Looks pretty :)
Directions: add contents to 7 cups water. Bring to
a boil, then simmer for 50 minutes and enjoy!!
