A Heart...So Much A Mothers

Every now and then...I go,
...back to another time...
I wore a young man’s clothes back then,
...for youth was so much mine!
Back to a setting...’bout like this,
...a winter’s shadow-land...
Addition to our family was,
...a part of God’s own plan!
Benton Harbor, Michigan,
...was home for us all then...
Midway Drive...the street by name,
...as mem’ries venture in!
That morning came...in February,
...as Mom informed my Dad...
Us kids were left at relatives,
...which kind of made me mad!
Then she was there...and what a joy,
...appropriately her name...
We crowded all around my Mom,
...as in the door they came!
What preciousness...God’s hands create,
...with every baby’s birth...
And we had ours...this little girl,
...whom God had sent to earth!
I’ve watched her grow...and like to think,
...I sometimes helped her through...
I smile and tell her...now and then,
...”I changed your diapers, too !!”
From fishing buddies...to writing letters,
...we’ve been close these years...
Now there’s gonna...be two of them,
...that’s how it so appears!
We’re both alike...in lots of ways,
...she’s ornerier...it’s true...
And I have found...no one else does,
...the things my Sis can do!
So, yes, let’s smile...for her today,
...let’s help return her love...
‘Cause hers’ has been...a special heart,
...that I am so proud of!
And, Sis, as only...I can know,
...you’ve blessed so many others...
God’s gift is thus...He knows you have,
...a heart...so much...a Mother’s !!
