The sea went wild as the sky grew dark and the wind rose as a
scream. A night unfit for man nor beast, on my ship The Island Breeze. I
fought! in a struggle for my life, with fire the storm now raged. It was
hell to all on the sea that night, off the southern coast of Maine.

I had sailed away from a tropic port, I had been at sea for weeks. My
hopes were high for my love did wait, I should have been in yesterday. But
the sea-gods seemed to curse my voyage, if there truly be such a thing. I
had hope for life, but expected death, off the southern coast fo Maine.

I am lost to all but the fury now of these never ending waves. A pirate
yes, but now I pray, just to see the light of day. My love lies safe, not
that far away, if once more I could see her face. It is terror on the sea
tonight, off the southern coast of Maine.

It is lighter now, yet the wind is high, in an ever pouring rain. I am
cast about as a leaf that's borne on a torrid hurricane. I've lost all hope,
I've said good-bye to the lovely girl who waits. Then the light goes out and
my ship goes down, off the southern coast of Maine.
