Back to the Future - My DMC conversion
This version of the car took over 3 months to build.  The Jet exhausts are made of 1/4" Luan Plywood airbrushed to look like metal.  They are almost a perfect replica of the original with a few modifications to allow it to be driven on the street as well as not damaging the car.  The photos below are of the "work in progress".  The entire rear deck assembly (exhaust, Mr. Fusion etc...) is mounted on a cushioned board that comes off in one piece .  Engine heat actually is vented through the jets!!  Mr. Fusion is made of numerous items like a Juice container, plastic salad bowl, microwave splash sheild, foam padding and a wooden handle.  It looks awesome in person!!

The car can be driven at normal street speeds due to the unique non-invasive bolting system I came up with. However, the side stripes, top unit, front screen and front wheel well cables and boxes are only attached with velcro so they are all able to store inside the trunk or passenger seat for travel to event. Yes, the rear sunshade comes off but it's a pain!!!
The Finished Product at the Maine State Parade in Lewiston in 1999 - Doc and all!! I searched numerous Goodwill stores to find the costume for Doc.  It's pretty accurate.  The wrist band is actually a rejected pressing off the original mold for the wristband of the female cops in BTTF II.  This is the scenes where young Jennifer is being taken to her "future" home.  I had a friend in Los Angeles who worked at a special effect shop and used to get me this type of stuff!!!!
Car all ready to go.  I made some additional modifications to the unit on top between the door prior to the Parade.  I sold all the pieces for this conversion last year on ebay.  It was a fun project but I needed extra cash for car work.  Maybe I'll do it again someday!!
