Any article or items of interest that anyone would like to include in the monthly newsletter, please email Kristi.  This could be an excellent source of research for us and others!

Website Updates:
I have been working on updating areas of the website.  You will notice that the schedule and links page have been updated.  You will also soon find more new pictures on the site.

Constitution/By-Laws:
With the addtition of 6 new members to the civilian corp, we needed to go over the rules of the Probationary/New Member section.  Currently the new members are considered Probationary members.  In order to be "Active Member" you will need to attend 1 business meeting and 3 events.  Only Active Members are allowed to vote and/or hold any Executive Office.   **There will be some rewritting of the By-Laws**  We will be updating everyone when this is finished.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email Kristi or any of the officers of the unit: Bob Willer, James Shanks, Steve Foraker.

Unit Direction:
It has been brought to my attention that with the growth of the civilian corp, that we should think about an activity that we could all participate in during some events.  It was agreed to think about ways that we could put ourselves into a "first person" impression.  Basically, we need to go into character when camp opens.  Some suggestions of activities are quilting needlepoint, flag making, bandage rolling, rag dolls, candle making,  reading stories/letters from loved ones,..etc.  Barak suggested that he is going to work on a way that it looks like he is making a casket.  We can also setup an area for the kids to be playing games.   Remember we want to completely transform ourselves during the day.   If you have anymore questions or suggestions, please email Kristi.

Meals:
There was a discussion on how to organize our meals with the entire civilian corp.  It was recommended that we have a "meal" coordinator for each event.  The coordinator will also be in charge of designating what type of meal plan and what everyone will be bringing.  For Example:  Saturday is a day just for us civilians mostly.  Sometimes the military wonder into our camps and look for fixins' to fill their plates with and we are more than happy to help fill their empty tummies!  But mostly the military are so busy they just eat out of their haversacks.
Saturday Meal Plan(example):  Breakfast(muffins, bagels, fruit)-something simple;   Lunch(sandwich meats, bread, cheese, veggies and fruit)-hot days or (casserole or beans)-cold days; Dinner:  Usually supplied by event.  If not we usually will break out the hot dogs!
Sunday Meal Plan(example):   Breakfast(bigger meal-eggs, pancakes, sausage and apples or breakfast casserole); Lunch(usually left-overs from the day before).
There are certain events that the civilian corp will be fixing breakfast for the military  on Sunday mornings.  Those events are:  Thistle Ridge(July 12-13), Wildwood(Sept 12-14) and Hancock Heritage Days(Sept. 27-28).  We will be passing around the hat for donations from the military to help with the  breakfast expenses of these events.
I need volunteers for meal coordinator at our events, please see schedule for list of events.    Karen and Barak have volunteered for Wildwood.

Calendars:
The committee has decided to make a calendar to help raise funds for the event.  If anyone has any photos they would like to submit for consideration, please email them to Quinn Meade or Steve Foraker ASAP!

Rag Dolls:    The civilian corp is going to be making rag dolls to help with funds for the event.  Anyone interested in helping or supplying material for this project, please email Kristi.
Instructions for making a rag doll
1.)  Cut strips of different material(length desired)
2.)  Take either (4) strips of 5 different designs or take (5) strips of 4 different designs.
3.) Lay them together with longer strips(if any) on bottom of pile.  Tie together in the middle  with smaller (width and length) of material.  Pick up the middle where tied and cup in hand to make the head of the doll.  Tie again to form neck on doll.  Once tied, form the head by turn the material inside out.
4.)  Cut  9 strips of different material .  Take 2 ties(smaller stirps) and tie at both ends of the material.  This will form the arms.  Flip doll upside down and find the center and then insert the arms.
5.) Take another smaill strip to tie the waist(this keeps the arms in the same position).
6.) Trim material (optional)
