"Headhunters"

The 89th Dragoon Regiment was commissioned into the Star League Defense Force on July 12, 2605.  The 89th was assigned to the 68th Corps of the 18th Army and deployed to the Outworlds Alliance as a garrison unit      During the Periphery revolt against the Star League, the 89th Dragoons were based on the Outworlds planet Ramora.   The sheer ferocity of the uprising in the supposedly "docile" Outworlds caught the SLDF forces off guard.  Due to the rebellion erupting all across the Periphery, the SLDF had to spread itself thin. The SLDF units in the Outworlds Theater faced massed opposition but held their positions with fierce determination with only limited reinforcements.      Following the Amaris Coup, the 89th along with the rest of the SLDF prepared for the Campaign to Liberate Terra.  The 89th established a fearsome reputation with there skill at attacking key enemy positions and eliminating command and control facilities and personnel.  During this campaign the 89th earned their monnicker of "Headhunters".      During their career with the Blackhawks, the 89th Dragoons have continued to further their reputation as a headhunter unit. The 89th is proud of their fearsome reputation as the Blackhawks premier "precision" attack force.
