Historical Timeline
2780: Remnants of 38th Dragoon, 89th Dragoon, 90th Dragoon, 321st Hussar Regiments along with elements of the 173rd and 197th Infantry Divisions are based on New Earth following the Liberation of Terra and the War Against the Usurper.  Col John Blackthorne of the 90th Dragoon Regiment is promoted to Lieutenant General and given overall command of this task force.

2781: Units are transferred to Thorin to aid in reconstruction efforts.

2784: Lt. Gen. Blackthorne attends the Feb. 14th Exodus meeting on New Earth.  Returning to Thorin, his units choose to remain in the Inner Sphere. November 5th, the bulk of SLDF forces commence their Exodus.

2785: Oct. Unit takes the name "Blackhawks" and signs a 10 year mercenary contract with the Lyran Commonwealth.  BattleMech Regiments retain their identities.  Other unit assetsare  absorbed to fill out the combined arms force.  The Blackhawks are assigned garrison duties on Montmarault in the Tamar Theater.

2787:  Mar-Apr, Kurita raid repelled

2788: Feb-Aug, 90th and 38th Dragoon Regiments provide reinforcement to LCAF garrison on La Grave.

2789: Oct-Nov. 89th Dragoons aid LCAF garrison on Rastaban

2790: Jan. New Kurita assault on Montmarault.  Battle rages till Nov., Kurita forces are forced to withdraw.

2792: Blackhawks recieve perrmission to conduct raids into Combine territory.  BattleGroups first formed.  'Mech regiments designated as Armored Cavalry Regiments.
Oct-Dec. 89th and 321st Regiments assault Hainfield inflicting heavy damage to DCMS facilities and capturing substantial supplies.

2793: Feb. 90th Dragoons raid Satalice, Mar. raids Skandia.  Jun-Oct. 321st Hussars raid Heilingdreuz, Gunzburg, and Voralberg.

2795: Signed new 10 year contract with Lyran Commonwealth.  An increased offensive role is stipulated.

2796: Jan. Intel reports a large Combine supply dump on Kempten.  90th Dragoons and 321st Hussars with the 38th Dragoons in reserve launch deep raid.  Much greater resistance is met than expected,  The 38th is  called in to repel Combine counter-attack.  Large amount of munitions and supplies are  plundered, remainder is destroyed.

2797: News of Kentares Massacre reaches the Blackhawks.  The unit resolves to strike at the Dragon with renewed vigor.

2798: 90th and 38th Dragoons launch assault on Karbala.  Lt. Gen. David Samuels killed during combat drop due to systems failure.  Col. Steven Parker assumes command.

2800: Combine launches new assault on Montmarault.  Raiders are quickly driven from their target areas.  Cut off from their transports they are hunted down and destroyed.  Combine DropShips captured.

2805: Signed new 10 yeat contract with Lyran Commonwealth.  Blackhawks are transferred to Vulcan.

2809: Lt. Gen. Parker presents a plan to LCAF High Command to draw Combine forces away from the embattled Skye region.

2810: Blackhawks recieve the go-ahead and make preparations for Operation "Root Canal".

2811: Jan. Blackhawks arrive in the Icar system prior to launching "Root Canal".  Feb.  Entire Blackhawks Brigade jumps into the Periphery outside Combine space.  Mar. Sets up base of operations in uninhabited star system.  Apr. Under the guise of "Periphery bandits" small units of 'Mechs and hovercraft begin pirate style raids on Combine/Periphery border worlds.  First strike is against Outpost.  The next two years are spent raiding for supplies and disrupting defenses and infrastructure along Periphery border.

2813: Mar. Blackhawks begin the final phase of "Root Canal".  Unit jumps from Periphery via uninhabited Combine systems to sneak deep into Kurita territory.  Apr, Blackhawks launch full assault against the provincial capital of Rasalhague.  Taking the defenders by surprise the Blackhawks attack industrial complexes, military facilities, starports and supply depots.  After inflicting as much damage as possible and seizing needed supplies the Blackhawks break off the assault.

2814: May-Sept, Blackhawks carry out additional raids on Combine worlds enroute to Lyran space, striking at Dawn, Ferleiten, Engadin, Kufstein, Kandis, Moritz, and Skokie.  Oct. Weary but elated,  the unit returns to Vulcan.

2815: Jan, A highly impressed Archon awards the Blackhawks the Dragonslayer's Ribbon and Unit Citation of Merit.  Aug, Kurita forces launch reprisal attack on Vulcan  The ferocity of the Kurita assault threatens to break the Blackhawks defense.  After 14 months of heavy combat the Blackhawks turn the tide and break the Kurita lines.

2817: Following two years of bloody struggle the Blackhawks finally force the Kurita force offworld.  Suffering nearly 60% casualties the Blackhawks are transferred to Sudeten for rest and refit.

2818-20: Needed time spent training and re-organizing.  The BattleGroups become fully organized in their present form.  Still in need of equipment and personnel, priority becomes filling out the BattleGroups.

2821: Formal end of the First Succession War.

2821-25: Blackhawks continue major refit and resupply.  Unit transfers to Carnwath to bolster the defenses in the vital industrial area around the Isle of Skye Province.  Kurita forces begin small scale incursions to disrupt Lyran reconstruction efforts.

2826-30: Blackhawks continue their build-up and repel occasional Kurita raids.  New 10 year contract signed with the Lyran Commonwealth.

2830: 2nd Succession War begins.

2831-5: Blackhawks engage in several battles with Kurita forces in the Skye Province.  Action is seen on Skondia, Lipton, Summer, Lyons, Alcor and Blue Diamond.  Lt. Gen Paul Samuels is killed in action on Alcor, 2831.

2835: Unit is transferred to the Marik front. Base of operations is set up on New Kyoto.  Blackhawks receive their second Dragonslayer's Ribbon for their actions in Skye Province.

2837-8: Free World League place under ComStar Exclusion.  The Lyran Commonwealth launches renewed offensive against the League.  90th Dragoon and 321st Hussar regiments lead Lyran invasion of Rochelle.  Due to the communications interdiction the FWL is unable to mount an effective defense.and Rochelle falls to the Lyran force.  New 10 year contract signed with Lyran Commonwealth, 2837.

2839-40: 38th and 89th Dragoon regiments lead assault against Concord.  Defending units are quickly overrun.  The Blackhawks are awarded the "Eagle's Feather"

2841: Lyran offensive against the Free Worlds League stalls due to increasing attacks along the Combine border.

2842-4: Blackhawks defend New Kyoto against a Free Worlds League counter-offensive.

2845: Last of the Marik invasion force is forced off New Kyoto.  Unit is awarded it's second Eagle's Feather.

2847: A new 10 year contract is signed with the Lyran Commonwealth.  The Blackhawks command staff ids becoming incresingly concerned over growing instability in the Steiner government.

2848-55: The Lyran Commonwealth suffers under the divisive rule of the "Triumverate".  The Blackhawks find it difficult to receive regular supplies.  The unit is forced to begin raiding Marik supply depots.

2857: Due to increasing difficulties, the Blackhawks renew their service to House Steiner for only a 5 year term.  The 2nd Succession War is losing steam as the warring Houses become unable to sustain major offensives.

2860: The Free Worlds League begins to reclaim worlds lost to the Lyran Commonwealth.

2863: The 2nd Succession War grinds to a bloody halt.

2865: Desperate for seasoned combat veterans, Achon Elizabeth Steiner offers extremely lucrative mercenary contracts.  The Blackhawks negotiate a new 15 year contract.  The unit embarks upon a rapid rearmament program.  All four regiments swell to their highest strength levels since the fall of the Star League.

2867:
Peace is short-lived as the Draconis Combine launches it's most massive offensive to date against the Lyran Commonwealth.  Blackhawks continue to garrison New Kyoto as the LCAF battles to fend off the Kurita assault.

2867: The Free Worlds League launches a new offensive into Lyran territory.

2870: Marik forces invade New Kyoto.  The Blackhawks stage a violent defense which bogs down the Marik force for nearly three years before forcing them to abandon the invasion.

2874:
The Blackhawks are awarded their third Eagle's Feather and their second Unit Citation of Merit.

2875: Needed supplies are increasingly more difficult to recieve through LCAF channels.

2876-80: Several FWL raids are sent against New Kyoto which are successfully repulsed.  Supply difficulties becoming severe.

2880: Wearied by growing Lyran incompetence and chronic supply problems the Blackhawks leave Steiner employment and negotiate a new contract with the Free Worlds League.  In accordance with contract terms the Blackhawks are deployed to Hamilton near the Capellan border.

2883:
90th and 38th Dragoons along with the 321st Hussars assault New Canton.  Last defense crumbles after eight months of fighting.  Marik House troops arrive to garrison the conquered world.

2885:
38th and 89th Dragoons attack Zurich.  Following five months of heavy combat, Liao reinforcements arrive to turn the tide of battle.  Blackhawks are pushed back steadily and forced to withdraw.

2887: 90th and 38th Dragoons join Marik invasion against Styk.  The Capellan defense is unorganized and quickly crumbles.

2890: A new contract is signed with the Free Worlds League.  Blackhawks are transferred to New Delos to prepare for new missions into Capellan territory.

2891: Raids are conducted against Second Try, Palos. Ulan Bator, and Rabatta.

2893: 90th, 38th and 321st regiments conduct a major raid against the provincial capital of Sarna.   After damaging industrial and military facilites and capturinglarge amounts of supplies, unit returns to New Delos.

2895-9: Blackhawks participate in renewed offensive.  90th and 89th Dragoons see action on Ingersol,  321st Hussars assigned to Marik task force invading Bandora.  90th and 89th battle strong resistance but make steady progress and enventually force the Ingersol defenders to surrender after a two year fight.

321st Hussars and their Marik partners face relatively light initial resistance, but unexpected Capellan reinfocements arrive to counter-attack with savage ferocity.  Marik troops forced into a rout that leaves the 321st cut off from evacuation transports.  Blackhawk troops are stranded on Bandora following the Marik retreat.  The 321st continues to conduct an evasive campaign in the face of a Capellan pursuit.  A small detachtment of Blackhawk infantry manages to reach the ComStar station to send a distress call.

2899: The three other Blackawk regiments abandon their current assignments and link up to stage a rescue attempt of the 321st Hussars trapped on Bandora.  Striking with unbridled ferocity the Blackhawks slam into the Capellans and send them reeling before the onslaught.  When elements of the 38th Dragoons finally break through to the 321st only a decimated BattleGroup Jackal remains to be rescued.  BattleGroups King and Lion are reduced to less than two dozen survivors between them.

2900: Enraged by the cowardly abandonment of the 321st Hussars by Marik forces, the Blackhawks break ties with the Free Worlds League and sign a contract with the Capellan Confederation.  Eager to avenge their fallen comrades, a posting on the Marik border is requested.  Out of respect for the valiant dead of BattleGroups King and Lion, the units are ceremonially decomissioned.  New replacement units are commisioned as BattleGroups Kaiser and Leopard.  A base of operations is set up on Nanking.

2901: 90th and 38th Dragoon regiments begin raiding Marik border worlds, hitting Talitha,Van Deimen IV, Pollux and Bernardo.  89th Dragoons garrison Nanking along with the shattered remnants of the 321st Hussars.

2910: A new ten year contract is signed with the Capellan Confederation.  The Blackhawks High Command is becoming increasingly unsettled by growing signs of instability within the Capellan government.

2910-20: The Blackhawks see little combat action.  Marik forces conduct a few relativley minor raids against Nanking which are rebuffed.  Needed supplies arrive in ever decreasing levels.  The units overall situation takes a severe downturn.  Troop strength reaches lowest levels to date.  Most non BattleMech units cannot field even 20% of their designated TO&E.

2920: In an attempt to replace a shortage of veteran House troops, the Capellan orders contracted mercenary commands and their equipment to be dispersed into the Liao military.  Lt. Gen. Lynch is adamant in his refusal to comply.  The Liao High Command is firm in its demands and give the Blackhawks thirty days to comply or be declared a rogue/criminal unit and destroyed.  After consulting with his staff Gen. Lynch "agrees" to the Capellan demands.

2921: As Blackhawk DropShips dock with Capellan JumpShips in order to be transported to a Capellan Quartermaster facility to be disbanded, Operation "Gauntlet" is launched.  Blackhawk commando teams successfully board and seize control of the Capellan vessels.  Once the captured transports are secured the Blackhawks set course and jump to Federated Suns territory.  The list of captured vessels included seven Monolith Class, ten Star Lord Class, six Invader Class along with a number of DropShips.

2922: Blackhawks sign a 15year contract with the Federated Suns.  Several of the captured Capellan JumpShips are sold to the AFFS to further finance the rebulding of the unit.  Assigned to garrison Valeza to allow FedSuns troops to be redepoyed against the Draconis Combine.

2923-30: A relativlely quiet time spent training and rebuilding to return to peak strength.

2930: The Federated Suns renews offensive action against the Capellan Confederation.  90th and 38th Dragoon regiments join invasion of Halloran V.  Liao defenders are quickly forced back and AFFS forces claim control of the world.

2931-7: The Blackhawks continue to conduct raids into Capellan territory.  The Fed Suns campaign winds down in order to consolidate territorial gains.

2937: Blackhawks sign a new 15 year contract with the Fed Suns and are granted a posting on the Kurita front.  Assigned to Elbar, the unit prepares for action against the Draconis Combine.

2938: Tide of war is turning in favor of the Federated Suns.  Long lost territory is being reclaimed.

2939: Blackhawks begin raids into Combine space, hitting Cylene, Markab, Feltannin II, Proserpina, and Skat.

2944: Blackhawks spearhead full assault against Klathandu IV.  Combine forces put up stiff resistance, but the the Blackhawks press forward at a steady pace.

2947: Final resistance on Klathandu IV comes to an end.  Although victorious, the Blackhawks have sustained heavy losses in equipment and personnel.

2948: As the unit recovers from the Klathandu campaign, the Blackhawks are awarded the Sword of St. George in recognition of their service.

2949: Blackhawks are assigned the duty of primary garrison force for Elbar.

2952:
Unit signs a very profitable contract with the Federated Suns.  Main focus is replacing combat losses.

2953-4: Kurita attack against Elbar beaten back.

2960: The Federated Suns offensive against the Draconis Combine continues to rack up a growing string of successes.  Several worlds lost to the Combine during the 1st Succession War are returned to Davion rule.

2961-7: Davion offensive slows to a halt due to growing internal dissentions. (Cabalists)

2967: New 15 year contract signed with the Federated Suns.

2967-82: Taking advantage of the momentary weakness of the Fed Suns, both the Draconis Combine and the Caellan Confederation launch renewed attacks.  Several worlds recently reclaimed by Davion forces are again lost.  Blackhawks successfully repel large attacks from both Kurita and Liao forces.  Unit is awarded the Limp Sword Flag as well as a second Sword of St. George.

2982: New 15 year contract signed. Unit transfers to Exeter to reinforce the newly re-conquered area of the border.

2983-5: Several Kurita raids against Exeter repelled.

2986: 89th Dragoons and 321st Hussars assist in the invasion of Galtor III.  Initially stiff resistance crumbles after nine months.  Large stockpile of munitions and supplies captured.

2988-97: Unit returns to garrison duty.  Indivual BattleGroups sent on occasional supply raids. Status of the war again turns in favor of the Federated Suns with additional worlds retaken.

2997-9: New contract signed with the FedSuns. Capellan and Combine forces continue to strike but Davion forces are able to maintain their gains and make additional conquests.

3000: Federated Suns maintains a precarious balance between maintaining territorial gains and collapse along the Combine front.  Kurita raiding force annihilated by the Blackhawks.

3001-5:
Federated Suns suffers renewed attacks from both the Capellan Confederation and the Draconis Combine.  Combine forces launch major assault against Exeter.  The Blackhawks wage a forceful defense and fend off the invaders for two years.  Atfer a costly campaign the Kurita force withdraws.  Blackhawks have suffered serious casualties and receives a third Sword of St. George.

3009: Unit returns to full strength.  Kurita raiding force destroyed as their DropShips are shot down by Blackhawk AeroSpace fighters.

3010-12:
Warring Houses are finding it increasingly difficult to maintain offesive operations.  The Federated Suns continues to desperately fight off attacks on two fronts.

3012: New 15 year contract.

3015: Resulting from Hanse Davion's desire to make increased use of his mercenary assets, the Blackhawks launch an attack to recapture Dobson. 90th, 89th and 321st Regiments drive off Kurita troops after ten month battle.

3017: AFFS garrison units relieve the Blackhawks on Dobson, units return to Exeter.

3018-24: The Federated Suns has reclaimed nearly all worlds lost to the Draconis Combine in the 1st Sussession War.  AFFS resurges under the leadership of Hanse Davion.  The 3rd Succession War finally grinds to an exhausted halt.

3024-8: Blackhawks re-equip and recover from the long carnage of the 3rd Succession War.  New contract signed in 3027 brings large bonuses.

3028: 4th Succession War erupts with Hanse Davion's invasion of the Capellan Confederation.  Blackawks lead several operations.  Mar-Apr, 90th and 38th Dragoons spearhead assault against Liao world of Yangtze.  Using overwhelming AeroSpace cover Blackhawk led force rolls over defending units.  July, 321st Hussars joins up with 90th and 38th on Yangtze to launch attack on Kansu.  Use of overwhelming force again quickly overruns defenders.  90th Dragoons rotate back to Exeter as the 89th Dragoons join the force on Kansu.

3028: Nov. Blackhawks join assault against planet Liao.  Capellan troops put up a strong defense.  Combat on Liao turns into a brutal slugfest.

3029: Feb. Attack on Liao continues.  Lt. Gen Fleming is killed leading an assault against Capellan defensive.positions.  Col. John robertson assumes command and continues the attack.  The AFFS continues to oerrun Capellan forces throughout the Theatre.

3029: Mar.  38th Dragoons rotate back to Exeter.  321st Hussars join main body on Liao.  Unit commences attack against Zurich.  Capellan defense holds firm for several weeks but eventually collapses in a rout before the Blackhawk assault.  Nov.  89th Dragoons rotate back to Exeter and the 38th Dragoons rejoin main force on Zurich.

3029: Dec. Liao forces counter-attack Zurich.  The attack quickly falters under poor coordination and the Capellan force is forced offworld.

3030: The Federated Suns devastates the Capellan Confederaton by seizing nealry half its star systems.  The 4th Succession War comes to a swift conclusion.  Returning in triumph to Exeter, the Blackhawks are awarded their second Limp Sword Flag.  Lt Gen. Robertson is awarded the Diamond Sunburst and the Blackhawks receive large bonuses in recognition of their service.

3031-9: Blackhawks maintain garrison on Exeter.  Unit reaches its greatest level of strength to date.  Extensive training regimens are maintained to keep up fighting trim.

3039: Federated Commonwealth launches invasion of Draconis Combine.  Oct.  Theodore Kurita leads Combine counter-attack hitting Exeter.  The Blackhawks reel before the scope of the assault, but maintain their defense,  Standing firm before the savage Kurita attack, the Blackhawks hold on long enough for FedCom reinforcements to arrive in December.  Blackhawks sustain nearly  70% casualties.

3040: Blackhawks are awarded their third Dragonslayers Ribbon and a third Unit Citaton of Merit.

3042: New 15 year contract give good bonuses.  Blackhawks continue their recovery from the devastating losses sustained during the War of '39.

3043: Unit is transferred to Epsilon Indi to bolster FedCom defenses in the "Terran Corridor"

3043-49: Blackhawks continue their recovery and swell their ranks with fresh troops and equipment.

3050: April, the Clans invade the Inner Sphere sweeping all opposition before them.  Nov. Clan offensive halts following the death of ilKhan Leo Showers.

3051: Blackhawks are transferred to Arcturus to strengthen defenses against the renewed Clan onslaught.

3052-5: Following the Clan's defeat on Tukayyid at the hands of the ComGuards, the new intelligence gained about Clan tactics and weaknesses, the Blackhawks begin conducting raids into Clan held territory to gain new intelligence as well as to capture Clan weapons techology.
