As I wrote this, I assumed my readers (that makes me sound like a novelist or something) had no previous Guiding knowledge or experience, so I provided as much detail and background information as possible, to help those brand-new leaders in their quest. I apologize if I sounded patronizing at certain times!
If you are a new leader, my foremost recommendation is to attend all the trainings you can. Guiding provides lots of different courses to help new leaders along, and you should definitely take advantage of them! Not only are they incredibly useful, they’re also a great way to meet other Guiders in the area (all of whom have other cool ideas) and they’re just plain FUN!
Obviously, there are many, many more ways of doing things than what I’ve included in this report, and I’m not claiming to be any kind of authority—I’ve only been a Brownie leader for 3 years! But my fellow Owls and I have all been members of Guiding since we were Brownies ourselves, providing us with lots of ideas and experiences, which in turn provided inspiration for many fun activities, which we are now sharing with you, the reader.
Please feel free to email me if you have any questions!
Or if you have feedback of any kind. I'd love to hear what you think!
If you do email me, please put "brownies" or "owl to owl" in the subject title, so that your message doesn't get lost in my junk mail box!
And if you really liked it/found it useful, I'd love to have a crest from your district/division/area or whatever. :) Just email me for my address.
