How to get involved

Welcome to the official homepage of

This page will serve as a source of information for O.A.R.C. Oxford Adaptive Rowing was set up in 1998 as part of an ambitious new project to bring British disabled rowing up to date. We aim to provide high quality facilities and coaching for both adaptive and integrative rowing for athletes with physical and learning disabilities in the Oxford Area. OARC is grateful for the support of the Amateur Rowing Association ARA

    Mission Statement

To promote the use of rowing as an integrative and adaptive sport throughout the city. To teach the disabled to row, coach and attain a high proficiency level with the able-bodied at Oxford University, Oxford Brookes University, and the city rowing clubs. To promote the sport, with the ARA and FISA across Great Britain and Europe. To use the sport in a structured way in therapy, recreation and serious competition. To consider and prove what the disabled can do, not what they can't!

    New information

    • OARC sessions for Trinity term started in sunshine!

    Regatta Information

    • Henley Disabled Regatta was sadly cancelled in 2003 - we hope to go again in 2004.

    • However, OARC did take part in the City of Oxford invitation disabled sculls 2003.

    • More recently OARC has attended the Boston Adaptive Head Race, 2004. Rory Stenton won the 3000 m race, with Rachael Lunney a close second. Several other athletes performed very well over shorter distances. .
