BASIC PROTOCOL
1.  We do not fake nor manipulate photographs to stimulate a ghost or some type of paranormal activity.  After a positive photo is taken, the area shown in the photo is checked for anything that might cause the image to appear.  If there is any doubt, the photo can't be used as evidence to prove activity.
2.  When making a recognizance of an area to be investigated in the daylight, take note any reflective objects that might show up on a photograph.
3.  Either remove camera straps or keep them looped around the arm or the neck to prevent them from being photographed.
4.  Tie long hair back to prevent it from being blown in front of the camera lens.
5.  Take off or turn hats/caps backwards so they won't be caught on film while investigating.
6.  Avoid shooting a camera at bright lights to prevent lens flare.
7.  Clean all camera lenses and check equipment to make sure it is in working order.  G.H.O. also uses a checksheet to fill out during inspection.
8.  Fresh or freshly charged batteries are to be used in all equipment.
9.  When recording an EVP, always begin with the date and time, your name and location before either walking away from or carrying the recorder.
10.  Never whisper when you are around an EVP recorder.  Speeak loudly and clearly when you discover you are near an EVP recorder.
BASIC STANDARDS
1.  No smoking during an investigation.  Cigarette smoke can easily be mistaken for ectoplasm or mist on photos and video footage taken.
2.  No alcohol comsuption or illicit drug use prior to or during an investigation.
3.  Respect the property being investigated wherever it is, and it's inhabitants living or dead.  No horseplay or trespassing.
4.  As part of G.H.I.O.'s professionalism is presented in our appearance.  G.H.I.O. shirts and hoodys are available to provide an uniform look.  Jeans are fine, but should be free of holes and tears.
5.  We will not investigate outdoors in inclement weather or foggy conditions.  It would be advised to dress weather-appropriately throughout the year.
6.  We do not encourage or participate in the use of Ouija boards, seances, black arts, black magic, or the occult.
7.  We will not conduct an investigation unless members feel safe or the area, or place, is deemed safe.  Ghost hunting should be safe and fun, not dangerous or dramatic.
8.  Always keep your cool and don't jump to conclusions.  Nothing looks less professional than running and screaming out of a residence or cemetery.
9.  An investigation should always be conducted by 3 or more members for safety reasons.
10.  Always survey the area to be investigated in the daylight, even the route taken to get there.
11.  Always consider ghost hunting fun and enjoyable along with a scientific experiment or or the act of debunking, or myth busting.
