DIRECTORS NOTE AS IT APPEARS IN PROGRAMME:

For me it all began on Wednesday 4th September 1991 at approximately 8pm at the Universal Theatre. It was then that I was first introduced to "the beauty the splendour and the wonder of my….." Hair. It was pretty much from that moment on I began my crusade in getting SHOESTRING to put on HAIR.

But, how was I going to convince a committee to let us do a production that contained people totally naked!?! A minor obstacle!! Besides, what a hell of a way for Shoestring to celebrate its 10th anniversary!

To see Shoestring put this wonderful piece of work on stage has literally been a dream come true, and I couldn't have had a better team behind me. From the daunting thought of auditions, it didn't take long at all for me to know that this was going to be one hell of a show. Never have I seen such a strong and talented cast pull together and work so hard. Please join in with me tonight and applaud their efforts. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Di Woodhouse and Jai Simeone whose creativity and genius, most of tonight's performance is in debt to. Mostly I would like to thank my assistant director Carly Reggars just for sticking with me all the way to Hurstbridge.

"To see but not to be seen,
To suspect but not to know,
Mystery, anonymity, ambiguity….."
GORE VIDAL

I would like to dedicate this season of HAIR to the late Timothy Leary.
