Being from California I had to be really picky as to what went to Florida with me and what stayed back on the west coast.  If you are driving, I would suggest bringing everything that you can fit into your car!  Bring your TV, cordless phone, decorations or whatever else will make you feel at home.  If you can, bring your computer- the ones in the labs are beyond slow.

I personally had 2 huge duffle bags and a backpack which I cramed as much stuff as I could possibly fit.  Some necessities (to me anyways):
Tank tops and shorts for the summer months, pants and a light jacket for the winter months
Alarm clock (believe me traditions starts early, and you
don't want to be late)
Bring pictures of loved ones from home ( whoops, I forgot those somehow)
Travel size shampoo and soaps in case you don't get to Walmart for a day or two
I brought my sheets, blankets and pillow from home- if you are short on space you can just pick some up at Walmart
Bring some business attire, for Traditions or classes.
I got a cheap poster tube at Staples and was able to bring a poster and some stuff for my walls so it looked like a bedroom and not a prison cell.
Swimsuit of course.
A camera, I took so many pictures (yes, they will be on my website one day)
Honestly, most stuff that you don't bring can be found at Walmart (Yay Walmart, one of the few places that you can shop for a couch
and milk)

Fly on
home
