Waiting was by far the worst part fo the entire application process for me.  I think the mailman was afraid that I was stalking him.  Try not to attack the mailman if the letter isn't there, it isn't his/her fault, and it might scare the neighbors.  The best thing to do is try to remain as patient as possible, which is also probably one on the hardest things to do!  This would be one of those times to take up a hobby!  Do something to keep your mind off of the letter!  You could re-grout the bathroom, learn to bobsled, read War and Peace backwards and a myriad of other possibilities.
