Sergei Signing: Sometime in late November
Road Trippers: Farr A, Willi, and Magoo
I’m in my dorm room one night, just watching the game, and I kind of hazed out (I tend to do that) during some ad Ken Daniels was reading off. I thought I heard the words: signing, Joe Kocur, Hockeytown Authentics. I decided that maybe I should stop staring into space and paying attention to the damn ads. Later as I’m watching it pops up…and says that Sergei Fedorov will be at Hockeytown Authentics this Thursday signing, all you have to do is bring a toy. Holy jumpin! I immediately get on the phone and call Willi’s house, and she had just talked to Amy and was like “Wanna go?” We bought toys at Meijer that night and away we went Thursday. Holy freakin jawhosaphat, it was FREEZING!!!! We got there and the line went around and between like 4 buildings, and it was raining and probably like 30 million degrees below out. We waited 2 hours. TWO HOURS in this horrible weather. We’re getting oh so close to the door, warmth, and Sergei, when the store owner comes out informing us that Sergei is leaving. I’m telling you, we were probably 10 people from the door. (Don’t fret Sergei fans, he stayed for an hour longer then he was supposed to. He was originally only staying till 7, or till he had signed 700 items. He went WAY over 700 and was there until 8 or 8:30. He’s a very good guy) although we all thought it was cool he stayed so long, we were a little disappointed. Our toes, feet, faces, hands, ears, you name it, were completely numb, and we were Sergei-meeting-less. But then the good news! “Joe Kocur is inside and will stay and sign if you would like to meet him.” So of course we did! After this, we went next door to met Ted Lindsay who was signing at a restaurant. On the way home, Amy and I missed our exit to Clare, because someone kind of told us to follow the Claire exits, but this sign said Jackson. Hmm. This sent us on the adventure of “Where am I going???” And my intelligent, calming answer. “In a circle.” I’m surprised I wasn’t backhanded Mac style. By that time, I think I had regained most feeling, but I still slept under about 4 blankets in a sweatshirt that night.
