Delegate Jacquelyn Adams informed us on the architecture, design, and history of the Cathedral of St. Paul in London from its origins beginning in the very early 600’s until modern times.  It was rebuilt once in 962 after being ransacked by the Vikings and a replacement cathedral in the Norman style finally completed in 1310.  Is was destroyed by the Great Fire of London in 1666.  The current edifice was completed in 1710.  Many historical happenings have occurred there including a funeral service for the Duke of Wellington; Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee service; memorial services for Queen Victoria; King George V’s Silver Jubilee service; funeral service of Sir Winston Churchill; the marriage of Charles, Prince of Wales, to Lady Diana Spencer.  1997 saw the 300th anniversary of St. Paul’s;  2000 the 100th birthday of HM The Queen Mother; 2001 – Service of Remembrance held for the victims of the 9/11 terrorists attacks.

Delegate Soleighta Fortune instructed on the London Eye – also known as the Millennium Eye.  This enormous wheel, built for the turn of the century in 20 hundred (2000), has a height greater than our Statue of Liberty or the Clock Tower of Big Ben.  The capsules in which you will ride can carry 15,000 passengers a day.  This giant wheel moves at a rate of 0.26 meters per second – that is a little over ½ mile per hour.  The wheel’s rotation never stops . . . except . . .
