An overview of Memorial Park
Social Gathering
January 8, 2006

Delegates of the 2006 People to People Student Ambassador Program met in downtown Columbia, SC at the Memorial Park.  This park has a number of war memorials from World War I to the Vietnam war commemorating those who fought and those who are major participants in these wars.

Concentrating on those wars leading up to the Cold War, the delegates were given the task of forming teams and, in scavenger hunt fashion, they worked in their respective teams in discovering historical information to forty-nine questions distributed among twelve orders of questions.

Your leaders salute your diligent efforts in finding this information and proceeding in a quiet and efficient manner as new delegates in this memorial setting.  We also trust that this experience will lead to a greater understanding of those wars and the reason that then General, and later, President Dwight D. Eisenhower had in creating the People to People programs and discovering the need to create peace – one person at a time.

We trust that each of you know at least your team members – a beginning in becoming an AMBASSADOR
