We also discussed the how to determine the value of purchases will we are visiting: England Uses the British Pound (£) where Wales and Ireland use the Euro (€). You can review the current exchange rate by right clicking <HERE> - Open in New Window so you can return here. By applying the exchange rates in can be shown that: £ + $0.80/£ = value in USD ($) - for example: £2.50 = 2+(0.80 X 2) + .50 X .80 or $4.00 USD It can also be shown: € + $0.25/€ - value in USD ($) - for example: €2.50 = 2+ (0.25 X 2) + .50 X .25 or $2.62 USD We will need to remember these approximate conversions to determine the value of our purchases |

In order to use our 125 volt appliances while traveling where the voltage is 250 volts – we will need appliances that can operate on dual voltage – ones that switch between the two voltages – or appliances that can operate on multi-voltages (basically electronic items that “know” how to automatically adjust to the voltage that is applied or we must have a voltage converter that converts the 250 volts to 125 volts. In any case, cords on our appliances will not plug into the receptacles that we will find while traveling and we will need (at the very least) and adaptor as shown above. |
