June 30, 2006 - Day 19 - Warwick Castle - William the Conqueror fortified this site in 1068 - it was known as the castle that could be smelled for five miles in any direction since the moats were filled with dead animals (including enemies), refuse of all kinds, sewage from the latrines, etc. - any fowl thing that was assumed others would not care to transverse.
