| UHELP (formally known as Final Distance) was started up by me (P-51 Baby) as a personal project and hobby that keeps me from going bored every once in a while. In a sense, it is a poetry site aimed at forming English lyrics for Utada Hikaru's otherwise Japanese songs. It all began with one song ('Final Distance', hence the site's previous name) and soon blossomed into my obsession with converting Hikki's lyrics into English that could be sung. At the same time, I tried to maintain the general meanings of the songs (though some have changed) and attempted to give it a "Hikki" sorta feel. This site is dedicated to sharing these interpretations of her music as well as to give something to sing along to in English. I highly stress that this is not a direct translation/romanji site as there are many out there on the net and wish to not mislead people into thinking this is what Hikki's REAL songs mean. In addition to the main purpose of this site, UHELP is also dedicated to educating and informing people about this talented musician. As Hikaru's musical career blossoms, UHELP will be posting up her original English lyrics in addition, so essentially this website will become a library of her songs. UHELP is also dedicated to posting up other people's interpretations of Hikki's songs. As I have discovered in recent months, there are many budding lyricists out there like me (I'm sane! Well, partially at least!). So, if you are one of them right now, I encourage you to send me your lyrics to post up. There are others here who have done so and I think that there are many talented minds out there and I'd love to see what you can come up with. | Who is P-51 Baby? |
| No, that's not really my picture (it's Russian ace fighter pilot Lilya Litviak). As you can probably tell by now, P-51 Baby is an alias I go by to post these lyrics. I won't give out many other details except that my real name (or part of it!) is Melany. I am the webmaster of UHELP and have written/modified the majority of the lyrics on this site. I've been a Hikki fan for about two years now and admire her musical talents. I've never met her myself but one of my highschool friends use to go to the same school as she did a few years back (Hey! It's a small world after all!). They were also in the same art class too! I have a wide variety of musical interests (pop, rock, jazz, celtic etc...) and play a few instruments myself such as the guitar, pennywhistle, and bodhran (Irish drum). Some other things I like are WWII airplanes, Blade of the Immortal (aka Mugen no Juunen), hamsters, anything celtic, and ramen. Anyhoo, I think that's enough info to post up on the web.
