Colors

Look at how my world is fading, slowly turning low
But could it be, that magically, there's something there, I stop and stare,
The mirror in your eyes...

You told me I could go anywhere, just open my eyes
My spirit rise, my heart divides, and yet all I can see in the sky is
Deadly black and greys

Flickering flame of the evening, paint a dream for me so I can open
Open my eyes, to the night sky.
The pen tip's dry, you won't be sleeping...*

Though I can't see the blue sky, my umbrella won't be  substitute for joy today
Don't you think that it's good? Take the canvas and paint, paint away
Throw in your white flag if you don't think you can paint my visions of the blue sky, blue sky
It's okay because I can see the red glare down deep in your eyes

Colors under the fluorescent lighting, light up all I thought I saw
And what I saw, when it was there, the chessboard's colors tell me something that I had never knew

We were so close in that one night, that one night when you thought we should be so
?Be si away from each other... a dreadful night, don't you remember?

I only want to watch the changing colors of the orange sunset next to you
Don't you think that it's good? Take the canvas and paint, paint away
You showed me black clothes worn by people praying for the lost and lonely far away
Spirits hearing what they said, follow endlessly day after day

If you can paint nothing but sorrow then you truly aren't who I thought that you weren't meant to be
Here I am and there you are, drawing, painting so furiously
Throw in your white flag if you don't think you can paint the visions that I see inside
You don't know me anymore. I'm a different color than before...

Lulu's Thoughts:
My basic look on this song is sorta telling a story about a girl who's gone through some kind of drastic change. And she feels good about it or whatever. So she goes to see her boyfriend/friend who happens to be a guy, and he's a painter too. So she tells him about all this wonderful stuff about all the things she knows and what she discovered about herself, and he tries to paint what she says. But everything he paints turns out the be the opposite of what she says (eg. she says something about sunsets, he paints a group of people mourning for the dead). She comes to the conclusion that she's changed so much that even her friend doesn't recognize her (personailty wise).

*-Most symbolic part of song. She's talking about painting a dream. In a dream, you're suppose to be sleeping. "The pen tip's dry" ie. no paint, "You won't be sleeping" meaning that the person can't paint the dream.
