| Luna's Song (aka Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro) Original Song by: Utada Hikaru Lyrics by: P-51 Baby | ||||||||
| I see the sun setting upon what were my dreams Trying to find the answers has lead me farther away from the truth I use to say, "Whatever comes, we'll be prepared to face it head on" Now I'm not sure if I can, because the path towards you has darken The more that I wish for your joy, selfishness prevails I know that it's a fight I can not win So I keep all these feelings hidden deep inside me Is it wrong to love you? The moment that my tears dry, rain begins to fall Not all dreams can come true Just one more kiss, just one more embrace Before you're not beside me All I wanna do is hold you close Until the winds of war tears us apart. Here by me I know that this is not where you belong I'll find a way to... Does longing for one's own joy lead to selfishness? I fear that it's a fight you can not win So you tell me all those times was never really worth it But is it wrong to love you? What does it mean to be in love when we're still alone? Not all these dreams can come true Just one moment more, just another glimpse Of what a life that could have been The more that I wish for your joy, selfishness prevails I know that it's a fight I can not win So I keep all these feelings hidden deep inside me But is it wrong to love you? The moment that my tears dry, rain begins to fall Not all dreams can come true Just one more kiss, just one more embrace Before I feel you not here by me Does longing for one's own joy lead to selfishness? I fear that it's a fight we can not win So you tell me all those times was never really worth it But is it wrong to love you? | ||||||||
| P-51 Baby's Thoughts: This song is a bit complicated to explain. While composing the lyrics, I kept two situations in mind: That of Luna and Tetsuya (Casshern), and Opheilia and Hamlet. The persona in the lyrics stands at a crossroads and that the conflict her lover faces is fate and, possibly, futile to overcome. The persona faces the pain of loving a condemned man, her emotions of selfishness, and a conflict she can not win. In the end, she is left with broken dreams, her own insecurity, and the present which she can hold on to. The emphasis of the song is focused on the repeated question, "Is it wrong to love you?" which sums up the persona's confusion and insecurity with love. I dunno if this is really the best representation of "Dareka", but that's the way I feel about the song. | ||||||||
