The "Endeavour" ex "Earl of Pembroke" was built at Whitby at 1764. She was purchased by the Admiralty in 1768 for 2840 English Pounds and fitted out in Deptford. The poop was continued forwards without a break. The Whitby collier was chosen by Captain James Cook for its ability to take the ground and sit fairly upright, its strength and its large stowage capacity. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The model is 55 cm in length. Woods used are mahogany, walnut and sycamore. |
