The original ship was built in 1760. The "Meeremin" was one of a large force of armed merchant ships of the Dutch East India Company. The ship was stationed at the Cape of Good Hope from 1761 until it was wrecked on the 9 April 1766.
The model is 60 cm in length. Woods used are mahogany, walnut and sycamore.
